Subject: Hard Rock Cafe
Message: Hi Cheryl!
Thanks so much for remembering that I collect HRC goodies!!! I'm glad to hear it's up and running. I was there about 10 years ago.
I collect the HRC Pilsners and the HRC city pins. I started collecting Pilsners after I was there, so I do not have that one. It's a beer glass is what it is. The city pins were sold out when I was there, but I did get one that says New Orleans, but it wasn't the official pin.
If you can grab 1 of each I would be MORE than thrilled to reimburse you for them.
I loved going through French Quarter. It's such a different life there. We drove from Farmerville which is way north down to NO, across Lake Pontchartrain. That drive across the 'lake' was scarier than anything I have done.
The drive back up to Farmerville took several days because we kept stopping at the old mansions, and the out of the way places for lunch. What a wonderful trip it was. I would LOVE to go back someday, but now that my folks are out here, I don't know when that might be, if ever.
How is the rebuild coming, Cheryl?

Message: i will make a stop at the H.R. store. hopefully they are stocked. not much was actually damaged here in the french quarter and business district. winds did a number, but flooding wasn't a problem here. no trash heaps left, or refrigerators at the curb here in the french quarter, anymore, like we saw on TV. we talked to our waiter, at breakfast, this morning who stayed in his apartment through it. said it was terrifying, but he was very glad he didn't try and drive out or worse, end up in the superdome! there is NO re-building in the neighborhoods. i think the problem with restaurants and other retail shops is all the workers evacuated and have nothing to come back to. i just don't see the 9th ward being re-built. i don't personally believe the residents who actually owned their homes are going to receive enough money to re-build a "hurricane proof" house. 8 feet below sea level is just that-8 feet of future flooding. it looks like a bomb went off. we went by it on a river cruise today. devastation. i'm so glad we came, toothache and all. i'm kind of a "i want to see it myself" kind of person. don't believe everything you hear on TV.
