Subject: Alergic reactions!
Message: Well ladies, it has happened!
Hellen, someone I was hoping would be able to become one of you rub buddies, can NOT use the NGF. She had a really bad. At first she was hopeful it would not be one of those things that she is allergic to, but alas the lanolin got her. She had said she was highly allergic, but wanted to try any way. I just really feel badly that it did give the reaction. She had to take benedryl to counter act the NGF. Poor dear is even allergic to many breeds of dogs, to cats, and bird feathers. Poor thing, how does one live without these precious animals. I am sooooo sorry it was a product she could not use, but she did say that she was pleased with the results she saw immediately in how her nails absorbed the NGF and the way it made her nails look. I told her I wanted to know and thankfully she did inform me. Thought you would all want to know this too! Just in case you have any allergies to lanolin.

Message: Barbara, have you thought about creating a lanolin-free version? An excellent one-for-one non-animal substitute is shea butter.

Message: Melissa,
It would be great if we had the time and resources to venture into that. But it is like I told you on the phone yesterday, it is just myself and my hubby now. We have NO employees outside of our own slave labour! (and I know you get that!) Being on Social Security limits what we can do income/expense wise too! I am afraid we have taken our little businesses about as far as we can. We are both very tired and just out of juice to bite into lifes pie any further. The one thing that we do know is that our products work if they are tolerated. And thankfully there are not that many with allergic reactions to lanolin. Since it is the natural by product of wool I can easily see how there are those effected by it though. Wish I had had the foresight when doing the R&D for the products to create an alternative then.

Message: I actually posted a few weeks ago that I, too, have a lot of allergies, including wool, and was afraid I might have an allergic reaction. I'm happy to say that after two weeks of faithfully using NGF, I have had no adverse reactions. My nails look pinker and healthier, but as of yet, I really haven't noticed any increased growth. In fact, two of my nails have broken. Is this formula supposed to strengthen the nails too? Will it take the full 30 days before they stop breaking? Is there any hope for me???? I must say, they do feel healthier, tho!!

Message: I'm so sorry that Helen had that allergic reaction. Thank goodness she has been a good detective in tracking down her allergies to be on alert as to what might trigger a reaction. I'm allergic to so many things that doctors say never cause a reaction to most people, so we each are unique. My sister-in-law can't use any shampoos or soaps with coconut-dervied products in them. I can't ingest anything with gluten (wheat, barley, rye and oats) but fortunately I'm not one of the gluten-intolerant who also cannot put gluten on the skin (given that so many cosmetics/shampoos contain wheat or oats).
But perhaps Helen could try Melissa's suggestion of at least using shea butter on her cuticles? It is a wonderful moisturizer.
Before sun blocks were manufacturered, I had researched ingredients to try to prevent the sun rash I always got as a child. I ended up mixing up my own batches of sunblock, with the same ingredients that eventually were marketed years later (yes, I wish I had patented it - I'd be rich). So maybe Helen could even mix up a close facsimile of NGF that would use shea butter and then add some of the other ingredients NGF uses if she can find the raw materials.
Barbara, I can't imagine that you or most people would have the resources to make variations in your line to meet so many individual needs. Thank goodness NGF seems to be tolerated by the majority (including me) but it's also why people like myself, Helen and so many others have to continually seek out new products and read every ingredient label before purchasing.
Yes, I'm the one who stands in the store aisles with my magnifying glass reading every ingredient on every label - you don't want to go shopping with me if you're in a hurry!

Message: Nance - glad to hear it isn't a problem for you.
Wow, Barb, that is unfortunate for poor Helen! I have alot of animal allergies too, the worst being bunnies and guinea pigs, but the lanolin doesn't bother me in the least. Phew!

Message: Nance, you keep using that formula and your nails will improve. These things take time. The nails grow very slowly in fact. That first 30 days help to jump start the activity. That is why you need to apply it bare nails, 2X daily. To give it the best chance of being of benefit. So don't get discouraged, let all the old grow out and the new will take over. It will nurture your cuticles and keep those nail beds in shape while the cell activity will in fact produce a more rapid growth pattern.
Jill, it is almost impossible, short of being GOD, to find something that will work every time for every one! I am just so grateful, given your medical background, that you are actually able to use the product without fear of those reactions. I can just visualize your super sleuth Sherlock Holmes looking glass, while you faithfully read each and every package in a shop! (((((((((lol))))))))))))

Message: Barbara, I totally understand. You and hubby have done an amazing job with an amazing product! You should be so proud, and I'm grateful to have learned about you! If there's ever anything I can do to help you, please let me know.
I'm sorry to hear Helen is allergic. Lanolin allergies are very rare. But I would highly recommend shea butter. It is a superb emollient. L'Occitane makes a 100% shea butter product.
Jill - keep reading those labels! Bravo!
I KNOW my nails are stronger using NGF - and I've been a bad girl about keeping up with it lately. Gotta put it back on my nightstand....

Message: She isn't kidding about the wet noodle. I get smacked upside the head regularly with it.
But it was really funny, with her heavy accent and all, the first time she said 'wet noodle' I had NO idea what she was talking about ;)
