Subject: George Jones story!
Message: Most of you know we were in the music industry for years, and we stay in touch with a lot of our old friends in the business. We got word today that a friend of ours, Leon Jones, in north Georgia, (he owns Lanier Land and Calhoun Music Parks) was on the phone with the George Jones people. He asked if George wanted to sell his bus. His friend turns to George and asks the question. George politely said how much? Leon says 1 mil! George says well he_ _ yeah, he only paid 1.2 for the thing and he wants one with the 2 or 3 pull out units instead of this thing with only one! So Leon says bring it on down. His friend says, well I will have to take Georga home first....So Leon, being Leon says, Thats my GD bus and you bring it on, I got a 83 Chevrolet I will loan George to drive home!
Well it was funny to us, cause I know Leon had aparantly had more than a few too many at this point! {{{{{{{{{{lol}}}}}}}}}}}

Message: Barbara,
I love country music, so I got a chuckle out of this story. Of course I don't know George Jones personally, but somehow I can't picture him or any major star cruising home in an 83 Chevrolet after being used to a million-dollar bus!
Whenever you have other music industry stories, please share. It's fun to hear the behind-the-scenes stuff.

Message: There was an incident once with our ZZ Top tour. During our load in at a coliseum, someone stolid the truck before all of the sound and lighting equipment could be loaded in! That was NOT so funny!
I can picture George in that old Chevy! You can bet if he'll drive around on an old John Deere to go get a drink, he will absolutely drive a Chevy for a mil!

Message: i was born in nashville, tn. and my mom tells me, when she was pregnant with me, she was working as a teller in a downtown bank and willie nelson walked in to get a loan. he was all "spruced up" in a suit, no ponytail in 1962, but still needed a scrub brush and some soap-some things never change!
john and i went to our local restored village opera house in fredonia, to see "walk the line". an excellent movie if you get the chance to see it.

Message: LOL! I can absolutely see George in that old Chevy! Ha ha ha!
"Willie Nelson all spruced up"; great visual Cheryl! Don't you just want to tackle that man into a tub?
Barbara, do a daily "Tales of the Road" entry for us. We are an enthusiastic, easy to entertain bunch. Pleeeease!?!? Well, DAILY is asking a lot . . . weekly?
My 3 pups, ~..~ ~..~ ~..~ , will do rollovers for you, in return!

Message: Willie actually cleans up pretty good, he just looks like road map in the face. May be he could use a little Micro-abrasive! Road hard and put up wet! But a generous song writer! And one heck of a business man. He SHOULD pay his taxes though. It's embarrassing when the IRS hangs out back stage waiting on the money cut!
Cheryl I had forgotten you told me you were from Nashville. I prefer Brentwood to Nashville proper. But beautiful countryside!
Lark, I'll take that puppy roll any time, with or without boring you all to death with war stories of the road. The George Jones thing was just one of the best ones I have heard in recent days.

Message: i actually grew up in brentwood-before it became BRENTWOOD. moved there from nashville when i was 5, and left when i was 11 to MS. back when there were tree lined roads and lots of open land. my mom worked for an insurance company in brentwood and met so many country music people and just didn't realize who she was meeting at the time. back when country music was the "step-child"!

Message: Oh way cool! Brentwood is, uh, was georgous! Since we are out of the business we don't go back much. But Tennessee is a lovely state in general.
"I was country when country wasn't cool!" is pretty much were I'm at. Though my own playing was rock and roll! It was unacceptable to be country in the late 60's! And we MUST fit in when we are youths! RIGHT? Oh, if I only knew then what I know now!
