Subject: Hi Ladies

Message:
Hi Ladies, it's me. I've had a really bad bout of fibro, and even posting a little has been overwhelming. I really can't think straight, and just posting a little exhausts me. I am very disoriented, and having bad FIBROFOG, which is a bit like bad confusion. All the fibro sufferers out there will know what I'm talking about. Posting overwhelms me!!!

I have missed you all, and I think about you often, and as soon as I can get through this I will be back. I have been checking in and reading.

Moi, I'm so happy about your Chair!! It's one of the best things that has happened so far this year. (I know it's only a month since New Year's Day, but this makes the year start off with a positive). I'm so glad you have your own, and aren't at the mercy of your Insurance company!

Barbara, I've missed you too, and I hope the doggies, and your grandchildren and you and your family are all doing well.

I do think about all of you, and I have to tell you, I have not been as faithful with my NGF as I was before this struck, and 2 nails broke. So I am trying to be more faithful again, but I am just "paralyzed" by this syndrome (I'd call it a disease, but I really don't know what it is), and everything is an effort to do.

I don't mean to complain, and I'm not looking for sympathy, I just wanted you all to know I haven't turned my back on all of you, I miss posting with you, and I just can't even think straight, so I keep to myself. AS soon as I can recover, I will come back. I know you fibro ladies will understand this, and I really need SUMMER!!! I love the sun, the warmth, and my pool with my legs submerged, in my chair reading a book. I hate this gray weather we are having here in New York, and part of this could be that Seasonal Affected Disorder because we don't see the sun enough.

Please don't be worried, it just happens with this and I have suffered with this for 15 years. It's a normal part of my life now, but I just hae to withdraw for a while to recover.

I hope all is well with all of you and I think of you everyday. You are not farther than a thought, and I do miss you. Please know that I will be back, and this is the first time I have been able to post in a few weeks.

Karen - you have to do what works for YOU. I know about the fibrofog from a friend who gets it and I hope it lifts soon for you. I know that when I have a bad migraine, I can't be at the machine too long and email falls by the wayside. It makes you feel guilty, but you have to know that your friends understand.

I'm in upstate NY and deal with the SAD as well. Holy moly, these prolonged spells of no sun sure do get to you! Didn't we break a record in January - most consecutive days without sunlight in this area? I used to go to the tanning beds in March and April once per week because I couldn't take it by then and it DID make me feel better. I'm sure that lack of light contributes to how you've been feeling. Well, guess I'll go see what the Groundhog said. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Be well - soon!

OH Karen, I am so sorry to hear you have been so ill! Spring is really sounding good to us this year. Its has been kicking all our butts this winter.
You take your own sweet time and let us know if we need to do anything from afar other than offer our love and prayers.
Lynnie gives great adcise. Do what works for you! You are missied though! Its really strange how we form these bonds without so much as a peep of the other person.
Isn't that just wonderful to hear that Moi has her chair. That does lift the spirit! You take all the time you want and need with this mess. Just know if you need to unload, this is your one stop shop! Honestly Karen, if you want to talk to us then jump your happy tail-end right in here.

Karen,

It was literally late last night that I was thinking about you, hoping you were OK. I was filing away some articles I had recently downloaded about research that is finding proof of chronic fatigue syndrome and figro and Gulf War Syndrome, etc. in the spinal fluid of patients, in certain genes, etc. - all the stuff that the doctors never believed when I suffered in the 1980s adnd 1990s. I completely know about fibrofog. I used to forget where I lived, where my parents lived and how to drive a car.

Don't beat yourself up for slacking off the NGF (Uh, oh, I hear Barbara sneaking up behind me to give me a smack with a wet noodles - I confessed yesterday I hadn't been well enough to do the NGF for weeks - I even went back to biting - but Barbara and Dorothy (a lovely new poster here) motivated me to do the routine last night when I was in bed. But I totally relate that even the most basic routines can be out of the question when illness paralyzes us - and yes, I totally relate to your description that fibro and chronic fatigue syndrome can paralyze one.

Anyway, I am so glad you posted just to let us know you're around - please don't feel pressure to post when you don't feel like it. Give Remy a big kiss!

And, yes, the news about Moi's chair is so wonderful, I think it reminds all of us that incredible things can happen suddenly.

You take care of yourself!!

Jill

Karen,

Have you or any of the ladies that live in the severe winter areas ever tried the full-spectrum lamps and light boxes that supposedly help with SAD? Given that I'm a Southern Californian (except for those five years in New York), this has not been an issue for me, but I'm curious whether these products really work?

Take care,
Jill

Jill, thank you so much and I do feel paralyzed with Fibro, and I have CFS too, but not as badly as I used to have it. The Fibro is much worse. I have gone back to using the NGF, and it's just that if I don't do it when I think of it right then and there, I just dont' have the capacity to do it later. It's as though all the energy is being drained from my body. I need to take Remy and go to Bermuda for several weeks (Oh how I wish for a month at the Elbow Beach - I don't know the new name of the hotel- in a lanai room, and just enjoy the sun, even though the temperature isn't that hot right now, having breakfast delivered to my room on the patio). Maybe in my next life!! A "girl" can dream can't she!

Thank you all for your concern and good wishes, and I will be back soon. I was here a few times today, and that's a big improvement over the past few weeks. So, I see some progress. I have to look at the positive side of this.

UUH! UUH! I can fold up and fit in a suit case! Pick me Karen, pick me! I will even walk Remy, I like dogs you know!
Well our southern spring should come early, while northern spring is put off a bit, according to the "authorities!" I am just afraid of an early spring down here, we have had some pretty severe summers lately, and the southern heat and humidity will stymie an elephant!
I remember when we actually had more than just the two seasons of summer and winter. I remember the warming process of spring and the gentle cooling down of autumn. Call me crazy, but that made the heat and the cold so much less painful to adjust to!
