Hi Grace,

I only had my acrylics taken off Christmas week recieved my kit a fortnight ago....I am using my growth formula 2 to 3 times a day and the difference is amazing and I know that I will have beautiful nails not too far down the track. But what I wanted to say was I also have been looking at acrylic nails and thinking the same as you....they do look soooo phoney....and every second lady I see has them. I would never ever have them again, and would talk anyone out of having them if they told me they were.

Thanks Kerrie for the comment. I did the acrylic thing off and on 12 years, I am lucky, I didn't have nail damage even though I had some allergies and infections. My first 7 years were pretty constant, but it was at a J.C. Penny salon and I think they were more carefull and the girl who did mine kept her equipment clean. Plus, she didn't use those drills. The last 5 years I went to the malls. That's when I had the most problems.

You will be so happy with your own nails.

Welcome to the cult, ummm.... I mean club. :)

I sooo want to be in the cult. Let me in -- Let me in!!!! I, too had my acrylics taken off just after Christmas but have only been using NGF for one week. I have never had nice nails of my own but I am so encouraged even after one week. It would be a miracle if this works for someone with my terrible looking nails. What should I expect after the first month? I am trying to keep the faith and have patience. I love looking at the message board and see all the wonderful support you all have for each other. My next change may be the new nail polish being evaulated. I will wait for Barbara's endorsement. In the meantime I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Debbie,

You asked what to expect after the first month, I found a post of mine after one month.

I wanted to let everyone know how my nails are doing. I am very pleased. (Thanks Barbara for your wonderful products!) I started the Growth Formula on Aug. 8th following the instructions, twice a day for a minute per nail. I still had acrylics on my nails since it was a new fill. I removed the acrylics on Aug. 26th. My nails were thin, the tips sore and tender. My nails bent easily and the tips curled up. After a few days, I trimmed my nails shorter to eliminate that bending. My nails are so shiny, it looks like I have clear polish on them and my cuticles look great! I thought when I washed my hands, the shine would disappear, but it did not. :) I have half moons and white tips and no hang nails.

Since Grace has officially dubbed *THE* cult member, may I congratulate you on your entry into a little accepted community of *NATURAL NAIL* lovers.
The hope for the first month, is to give your exposed nails a nourishing jump start on their recovery to health! Your cuticles will of course almost immediately respond, the nails will in fact soon fall in and begin the process of healing and gaining strength and producing a healthy natural nail. Some times it takes a bit longer depending on diet, heredity, environment, habits, etc., etc., etc.
But you keep up your efforts and they will pay off for you too! Welcome and it is a pleasure to know you are on the road to recovery.

Hi Debbie!
Welcome!!!! You're lucky - you got 'welcomed' with a Wonderstone file. I got 'welcomed' with a wet noodle. ;)
After the first month, if you've been using the product according to directions, 2x daily, you should start to see the new growth coming out a little healthier and better looking. For the old growth, you should have been able to see a nicer, more manicured looking nail even though they might be short. I noticed a big difference in the first week with regards to cuticles, and at 3 weeks I honestly started seeing an increase in the rate of growth.

At Christmas I was opening a package, one of those that is a hard plastic sealed type thing, and it sliced right through my thumbnail, all the way to the part where the nail grows from. I had to file that down, and in my discouragment I filed them all down the same. I just got out ruler and measured my new growth and on all my fingers except 2, it's between 1/6 and 1/8 inch. I have 2 nails that just don't want to grow very fast at all, but that's okay. They'll come along in time too. Now, I don't know if 1/6 or 1/8 is good for 1 month, but for me it's amazing! I know there's someone else on here who posts with us that remembers me, at 3 weeks, posting about how happy I was and that my nails were finally growing.

Whatever you do remember that you cannot undo years of abuse and neglect over night. It might takes months or years, but if you put forth the effort, it will pay off!

Thanks for the feedback Barbara, Moi and Grace. I am tickled "pink" with the way my "pink" cuticles look after one week. The operative word here is "pink" and the mother of 3 boys usually loves pink wherever she can get it. My nails already look cleaner though there is no length as they split on the ends and I file them off. Is it advisable to use the buffing cream during the first month or should I wait?

Barbara,
You're so sweet! Pink is my new favorite color. I also wanted to know if I can start using the buffing cream right away or should I wait for my first month to be over? Again, I am just starting week 2.
