Subject: Comparing nails - I WIN!!
Message: A friend and I stopped having acrylics. I think she stopped a little before me. She was praising OPI Nail Envy... I did buy some but never used it. I started to use NGF in August. Last night we were comparing nails. OH MY!! My nails looked pink, hydrated and healthy. Hers were dry, splitting and had vertical lines. I showed her mine and how they shined without polish. I told her I use my cream and buff. She said she has not been doing anything for her nails, she said she needs to get back to Nail Envy. She even said she was tempted to go back to acrylics so she would have nails. YIKES!! I said I would NEVER go back to acrylics. She knows that I am using NGF but it doesn't sink in, no pun intended, ha ha
I don't have cable so don't know what you ladies talk about when you talk about the products you are using. I'm not be snobbish not to take part, it's just that you are talking a foreign language. I stick to my tried and true, Lauder foundation, Arden or Oil Of Olay face cleanser, I use Loreal face moisturizer.(Job change 5 years ago so I do not have my cosmetics discount and I have had to use less expensive products.) I tend to have allergies to products with too much SPF so have to be careful.

Message: I used Nail Envy a few years ago when I took off the acrylics before, and found that my cuticles became very hardened. I have nothing good to say about that product.

I am pretty much in the same boat with you on not knowing beans about the products that are so talked about! I have just never been a beauty or a beautyholic! Just au natural! But I am using the Bare Essentials Mineral Makeup. What my dogs don't lick off my face, that is!!!! I am basically blissfully unaware of most of the products out there, so don't feel left out....I jump in with questions like, just what the heck is that?????
We are glad you are here with us though. You know you can talk about a lot of issues with us. If you have things you want to discuss, or issues that you wish to raise, please feel free here.

Message: Grace! Congratulations on such lovely nails!!!
AND, for the record - I have cable, cable internet and junk mail up the whazoooooo and STILL don't know what the products are, except for BE. I use OOO, but might just branch out to the Mary Kay Microderm kit. I tried that sample and really liked it!
You know, have you considered slipping your friend a jar of NGF, just a little one??? Think of it as intervention ;)

Message: Barb, You look great au natural. I need blush and lipstick. I went to have my hair colored recently and the guy who does my hair said I looked *funny*. I wasn't feeling well that day, I had just been to my Osteopath, but I had used a bronze blush. Guess I must really have looked the worse for wear. :)
Moi, yes I have considered slipping my friend a jar of NGF, to be honest, I gave her a small jar of Sally Hansons that I found at Walgreens. I thought I'd see if she uses it and if she likes it, then I'd get the NGF for her. I doubt she used it and her daughter is a hair stylist and she told her mother *any* type of cream or oil would work. So I decided not to waste my time or money.

Message: Grace, you might try to point out to her that you don't put transmission fluid in your gas tank, so it would stand to reason that something that works on you skin or hair may not be the best solution to create the necessary conditions for your nails to flourish!

Message: Barb,
Not only are some people hard headed, they are also *Know It Alls*...
I just looked up the Sally Hansen product I gave her and found a website where the consumers gave their opinions. The opinions were not very good. It was a cuticle product and it was said to be waxy, had apricot and tended to make the cuticles orange and look dirty. BOY!!! I'm glad I found your website!!!!!!!!!!

Message: I am glad you found my website too Grace. We'll just keep this our little secret, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
What I like about having my own nails, out side of the obvious benefits, is when someone says, "Are those your nails?" (and I don't let them grow long anymore, due to all the keyboard time@#$%^&*)
Thats when you know others pay attention to the health of natural nails. Their reaction to our nails is worth a million bucks!

Message: Barbara,
I found your website by accident. I had just come home from a fill, frustrated almost to tears because my fingers were itching. I was trying to do a search to see what I could do other than applying Cordaid as soon as I got in the car. I could not stand hot water on my fingers for a few days either.
You know, now that I no longer have acrylics, I look at others who do and wonder, "Why did I think they were so pretty??" Now they look so phoney to me. I remember feeling inferior when I had my natural nails and these ladies would come in with such *lovely* nails. Now I don't feel that way at all. I am proud of my pretty nails and because of the NGF, they look wonderful. Because they are not peeling, splitting or have dry cuticles, I find that I don't pick at them like I would have in the past. The thing I can't get over is how they continue to shine after hand washings. What an amazing product. Thanks for making it available to us. ((((Barbara)))) Rubba Dub Dub, you won't lose your shine in the tub. :-D
