 Subject: Sad Journey for my dearest friend!Message: I just have to share this with you all. Actually unburden myself is a more accurate description! This morning my best friend of 40+ years, left on a journey to Holland. Her daughter, Loren, is dying from cancer. They were going to take the next month or two to tour Europe and make some new last memories for Nanci. Yesterday evening when I was talking to Nanci, she said she was getting a call from Loren. So we said our good byes for the moment. Loren was calling to tell her Mum to hurry. She was tired! This morning Nanci boarded a flight to Holland to say fair wall to her only child. And I just wanted to let you all know that, for me, it is things like this that MAKE me so totally aware of how blessed I am in this life. Not just because I have 3 of my own healthy, robust, beautiful children, and 2 gorgeous bonus daughters. Not to mention my 11 grand babies. But the fact that I can come here and unload to friends that allow me to cry out loud. Thank you all for being not just my friends, but for being my sounding board, and being my guide in a life that is sometimes difficult at best. |

You've talked about Nanc and Loren a few times and yet when the 'time' comes it's just so hard to accept, isn't it? I sob just thinking about it, just putting myself in their shoes. I do not know where one finds the strength to go through this, either as the mother or the daughter. I'm going to add their names to our prayer roll, Barb, and yours as well. Will you please email their last name so I can get that going right away? You know that we are all here for you, always. With so much love and many prayers to you my dear friend! |

Honest to God Ruth, I can not even begin to imagine the pain of all of this. Nanci has been my rock, since forever. She was with me when Faith was born. I mean, she and Loren are a part of me the same way Faith and I are part of them. Faiths' middle name is Michele, after Loren Michele! It is inconceivable to have to consider doing what Nanci is doing at this moment.....It HURTS! Oh dear God, please be with them now! |

It probably won't matter so much if they have to scale down their trip or if Loren isn't up to it. It matters more that they have this intimate time together. I would love to be with Nanci and Loren but this is such a personal moment in time for them. I am totally unnecessary. I did tell Nanci that she is really fortunate in that she actually gets the opportunity to say her farewells and be with the child she brought into this world, so I guess Gods wisdom is indeed all knowing. How many of us have lost someone and then wished for one final moment to tell them how deeply we loved them? And what that love has meant through out our lives. So, as saddened as I am, I am grateful for her to have their moment. I hope she is sustained. She is very aware of Gods presence and mercy and unwavering love. And her love runs deeper than any woman I know. You guys are such a wonderful bunch I can't imagine what I did to deserve your friendship and love. What ever brought us together, it will forever be in my mind as a define intervention. |
