Message: Hi Moi! The quack in question is Dr. Perricone, the article is right on the first page. It's pretty interesting stuff. While hawking his overpriced goods, he makes alot of sweeping statements that are often untrue as well as unsubstantiated. I conclude people just love embracing a concept that contradicts medicine and science, especially if it comes from a doctor. He has a captive audience that thinks they are getting more because they are paying more.

Message: There's another guy and I can't think of his name off hand... Tredeau or something like that... he's in all kinds of trouble and that guy that lied about all his bad experiences in that book, then Oprah defended him on Larry King... boy, they really come out of the woodwork, don't they?

Message: Yep! 20/20's show on Friday night was about charlatans, namely Kevin Trudeau and James Frey.
Frey is the former junkie who wrote a book about coming back from addiction. Turns out he "embellished" quite a few incidents in the book. The big debate on that is that it is a book of "memoirs" and maybe a percentage of embellishment is acceptable. Other defenses are that people struggling with addiction have achieved some comfort from the book. Still not acceptable to me considering Oprah shot him to the top of the bestseller list. She defended him to that effect and maintains her people research beforehand. hmmmm
Kevin Trudeau is just totally full of crap, but he's dangerous. He promotes natural cures and wants us all to think the medical community is keeping these things a secret. He's been banned from doing infomercials and has made ALOT of money from people he preys on, some of whom should be receiving conventional medical treatment like chemotherapy! On the show he sat there and lied boldfaced numerous times.

Message: I've seen the Trudeau guy in infommercials fairly recently and regarding the Frey guy, in my oh! so humble opinion, there's no justification for any amount of embellishment.
