Subject: Coupons
Message: Hi there,
I just wanted to pass these along because I know that there are soo many of us who NEED to use them and others of us who just look for a good bargain!
You can get coupons emailed to you weekly.
Check out:
CutOutHunger.org
SmartSource.com
CouponMom.com
If you sign up for their weekly email only, you won't end up getting all kinds of stuff from their 'partners'.
Check in your neighborhoods and find out if there are stores that double coupons. When you get their weekly mailed ad, find the things you need and grab your coupons. This is how I end up getting so much stuff for free. Because the store put it on sale and the coupons are doubled. I also get the Sunday paper and save the coupons from week to week, organized by product. I really do save a load this way. I subscribe to the Grocery Game, but I know it's not available in all your areas. Check out TheGroceryGame.com
This weeks free items for me are -
Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce
Uncle Bens Ready Rice
Mahatma Rice, selected varieties
Ortega Diced Green Chiles
X-14 Shower Cleaner

Message: Hi,
It's funny, I just heard about CouponMom the other day and was planning to check it out. I appreciate the recommendations. I've always been pretty good about clipping coupons. Now that I have to eat gluten-free, I don't have as wide a selection on food - but I can't believe you mentioned Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce because I believe it's gluten-free (I have to check with the manufacturers or other people on the celiac email lists) so if I can get that and use a coupon - thanks!

Message: Jill, do you have a Ralphs near you? They double the coupons and I get the List for Ralphs. Buying what they have on sale and using the doubled coupons is how I get things so cheap and often free.
A couple months ago, we thought my dad had diabetes. It so happened that Ralphs (Pharmacy) put their One Touch Ultra meters on sale for 29.00 and we had a coupon for $30 off. We got that one and the really high end one that is about $120 for FREE. Now, we find out he doesn't have diabetes, which is good, but I have these meters now. So I will hang onto them!

Message: Hi Moi,
I do have a Ralphs relatively near me, but a Von's literally down the hill, so I tend to go to Von's more often. But I will definitely go to Ralphs for double coupon savings more often - as you know, I'm on a tight budget too because of those nasty medical bills (and you wouldn't believe the idiotic conversation I got into with the billing department of my medical clinic - they said my brain scan was more expensive because it was done at an acute care imaging center. I said that my internist's secretary just scheduled a brain scan for me, not on a rush basis, it was part of the same clinic and hospital - how was I supposed to know it was scheduled in a 24-hour part of the clinic rather than the cheaper 9-to-4 part of the same clinic? So she said most consumers are knowledgeable and shop around! Well, I'm a very patient, calm person, but when I get pushed to my limit, I take action. Needless to say, I am reporting what she said to the powers that be, etc.)
Sorry, I digressed, but at least I got it off my chest! When I lived in New York years ago, I was just starting my career, getting paid almost nothing and having to pay sky-high Manhattan rates. I became a pro at using coupons! It was literally the only way I could afford to eat. Thanks for the tips - I am really motivated to stay on a super-tight budget and this will really help.
Glad your dad does NOT have diabetes!

Message: Jill,
I'll email you the information about The Grocery Game. You can do the first 4 weeks for $1.00, then it's only $10.00 for 8 weeks and it's WAY worth it. I only buy the things that are on the list because otherwise you end up spending more than you should. Then buy the other things you need whereever you see them on sale. The idea behind the grocery game is to get your pantry so well stocked that you never have to pay full price for anythign again... anyway... check your mail!

Message: Jill, I hate insurance companies.
Several years ago I fell and hurt my back. I couldn't walk the pain was soo bad. Paramedics wanted to take me to the hospital and they said that since I might have broken something and couldn't get there on my own, insurance would cover it. Guess what... no, they didn't cover it. I paid over $600.00 for that 3 mile ambulance ride. I feel your pain. Go after them. I wish I had.
