Subject: Ouch!
Message: I tweaked my bad knee getting out of the shower and it hurts sooo bad. I know you're supposed to alternate cold and hot, but I can't remember the numbers... the time... and which is which. Anyone remember??

Message: Hi Moi,
I hope your knee is better. My doctor told me when you first injure yourself, you put cold on the owie. After that, you use heat. Not sure how long you leave the cold on. I tried cold on my back recently and I didn't like it too much. Maybe I didn't have the ice pack wrapped in enough towels. And take ibuprofen if you can tolerate that.

Message: Ice then heat. This is the norm for a sprain...I am not sure what you really have there so that may not be of much benefit. I do know that Ice will slow blood folw and heat will of course speed it up so that may help determin what you need to do.
Sorry for not being here sooner. My hubby just wham! Sick as can be, up all night throwing up so it was difficult to get back in here.

Message: Moi - don't know if this helps... but my daughter had the wisdom teeth removed this week. She had to ice every half hour. On the second day she switched to heat as needed for pain and comfort. Of course you know to elevate.

Message: I have been told that you should use a bag of frozen peas because it molds around the injured area better. (Told to me by a CFL referee's wife.)

i think i would put the cold and heat on for no more than 10 minutes for each at a time.

Message: Thanks everyone, for your suggestions! I gave up and took a vicodin which really doesn't help me much, but I was able to sleep through the night which is something I can't do on ANY night.
Thanks again, you're all such angels!
