Subject: Yo, Princess Ava!
Message: Hi there! I'm just catching up here after New Year's and caught your topic, but these threads only hold 10 posts so I can't add my welcome to your thread. Thanks for stopping by. I'm "fidget" on Q and you probably caught my post there re flying under the radar when it comes to certain products. I became a member there shortly after the NGF fracas too while searching for a new nail product to try and finding this site. That dynamic over there re this product is so petty. It amamzes me that you'd be dealing with this nonsense considering your favorite product IS sold on Q!
Anyway.... when you are ready to go natural with the nails, be sure to come back here for support! And, my Ojon should be arriving tomorrow, thanks to you. I have a hair appt. for a touchup color and cut, then I will be Ojoning on Friday. Cant wait!

Message: HI! Yes, I saw that post. Some of those women are flat out crazy. I am thinking I might have to take a break from there again. Karen had posted on another thread here about someone being harrassed outside of the board--a package was sent to a poster's family to harrass them....well that was ME. And, this person harrassing me this weekend is most likely the crazy who did it. I am suspecting the detective who is working on it will tell me to lay low and not post over there again. How insane! People like Barbara and I were banned for silly reasons, and psychos get to stay on there and literally commit crimes!
I want to read some of your nail stories to fire me up about taking the bare nail plunge.
Thanks for the welcome!

Message: Oh, I know how nuts some boards can get in time, as I was a longtime user of a large divorce support forum that has gone to the dogs because of trolls and self-appointed board "owners". So, while there are alot of neat people at Q, I also see those other dynamics at work and I've saw the thread by "soldier" there. I hope you get to the bottom of it because I think people should be accountable for their actions everwhere - internet included!

Message: Princess Ava, welcome to this board, and you will read the posts and want to take those acrylics off. The NGF product really does work.
I am so glad you are here with us, and it looks like you and I and Lynnie have been treated the same by those people I can only call bullies. I really resent them, but I will always try to distract them like small children and pets who are impatient and need to be trained. I am not always successful, but MsBraun, you have to deal with them too much, and I think it's the same person who likes to "poke you in the eye with a sharp stick" and it is so unfair!!!
I hope you all have a good night and I will talk with you tomorrow. Thank you MsBraun for showing me how to turn what could have been a really ugly thread into a wonderful thread about our furbabies!!! You are a very classy lady, and I do enjoy your posts here and on the "dark side", what I call the QBBs.
Night ladies!!!

Message: Thanks you guys!
I really am considering taking the acrylics off. First, my night job is doing home jewelry parites. My nail lady is available Tuesday-Friday. Those are my prime party nights. Now, I like having a night off here and there--but then I'd rather be at home.
Did you guys really labor over pulling them off? Was it a big decision?

Message: Ava,
I have to tell you, when I finally had enough of the pain I took them off and haven't looked back. My cattlecall canicurist noticed I was in tears (pain) during the last fill. She offered to apply a product that would deaden the pain. Duh! Deaden the pain but not spare the actual damage. I said no thanks and left without the fill. I took them off and started looking for a product to use. I tried all of the SH products and even ProStrong. Prostrong made my cuticles more dry and brittle. Anyway, I finally found a post by Dapme regarding this product. It is amazing!!! My nails are so nice looking and I have gorgeous cuticles. It's all I can do to stop myself from flaunting my cuticles all over the place. LOL
My nails are still thin from the abuse they took over the years, but they grow so fast! I am very pleased with this product.

Message: princessava,
the decision for me was simple. between the greenies, the pain, bleeding and sanding of skin during fills, the blisters, the time consuming, the cost, and the aggravation of trying to find anyone who followed any kind of sterilizing procedures, the decision was a no-brainer for me. i soaked them off and never looked back. it wasn't a pretty site underneath, and it took time and patience with the NG formula because my nails and cuticles were so thinned out, drilled and damaged under the acrylics. most of us do not have a choice when blisters form, or pain accompanies every fill. there is no way but off.

Message: Maybe I am lucky or wierd, but I have NO PAIN, nothing when I have my nails done. None of those grooves. My lady says only the crappy Asian ladies do that? I have never had fungus or any of the horror stories.
Well, it DID hurt when this chick I USED to go to would rip off old stuff--but she was a nasty bag. She liked to see us hurt, and she was a slob, so I dumped her.
I got acrylics for my wedding 5 years ago, and just kept them up. Prior to that, I used to "do my nails" every night before I went to bed. Having perfect nails was a MUST for me.
Now, with your natural nails--do you get the French mani look?

Message: Ava,
There are many horror stories about those things. And they really are not the exceptions, they are in fact the rule. Of course, I would try my level best to talk you out of acrylics for obvious reasons, but honestly, they are extremely detrimental...
Cheryl has been with the Growth Formula for 3 years now so I think she and several newcomers to the product could give you some real insight with regards to the best avenues to take for your complete recovery.

Message: I am sure I am a freak exception! : ) For me, the nails are a time issue, and the fact that I would like to do my pottery again. What I was doing is timing out my pottery throwing with my nail appointments. I'd throw pots the day or two before my appointments so I could file down my acrylics to little nubs--get them fixed the next day. Also, I tend to throw very wet--that is not good for acrylics--makes them lift--breeding ground then for fungus.
With your product--are your nails then flexible? Mine were always very thin and brittle.

Message: Ava,
I removed my acrylics last August. I had acrylics for about 7 years and they were done at a J.C. Penny Salon. I always had the same girl and she was very careful about keeping the files clean. There wasn't too much damage to my nail bed because she didn't use a drill. BUT..... I was allergic to the primer. I had to put a cortisone cream on as soon as I left the salon. Then my girl left J.C. Penny and my job changed and I could not have a standing appointment so I went to the mall where you don't need an appointment. They used drills, I got infections along with the allergies. I quit for about a year, went back and had the same problems. That's what did it for me. I found Barbara's board and read all the posts from the first one. I still had acrylics on because I had just had a new fill. I removed the acrylics using the acetone nail polish remover. I tried to rip off the acrylics and stopped after 3 because of the pain and also because I saw that my nails were getting more damaged. I would advise you not to do that. I also advise you to keep them short at first because they are thin and fragile. I have not regretted removing those acrylics. My nails are strong, healthy and I have white tips and my half moons show. My cuticles are in the best condition they have ever been in. Barbara's cream is the best thing I have ever found. The removal process took a couple of hours for me... I listened to a book on tape to help pass the time.
Hope this helps you.

Message: your nails will be more flexible and healthier then they ever were. the nail beds are pink and the cuticles are hydrated and the white is well, white! the NG formula restores the moisture balance to them. i guarantee it is a matter of time before your own nail bed will completely thin out under the acrylic and lift from the nail bed. i just hate seeing any of us go through this when we don't have to.
