Subject: Natural nail growth formula
Message: Would Natural Nail Growth formula be still as effective if my nails had a 'nail strengthener enamel polish' on them. Or is the formula only to be used on 'bare' nails.
Thankyou.

Message: Yes Marion,
The growth formula will work over polish, and you can even start your growth process while wearing acrylics and other topical applications. Just make sure the matrix or base of the nails, at the cuticle, get the rubbing attention.
Thanks for the inquiry.

Message: Our Natural Nails Growth Formula works because it stimulates cell activity. The Mayo Clinic said that hardeners and polishes do not promote growth, they just ad a venire and coat the surface of the nails.
Our formula actually stimulates the cells and promotes a more rapid growth pattern.

Message: I just got a full-set of acrylics because I have a underactive thyroid condition (caused by hypopituitarism condition) and my nails NEVER grow or get strong. I have always had thin, weak, snagging nails that never seem to grow. Ever since the age of 21 (I am 34 now) I have been wearing acrylics or gels because my natural nails never grew. I don't really want to get acrylics/gels, but I love having beautiful nails (not long). I read a lot of information that it takes 4-6months for nails to grow out (this can't be true). I have tried various products (Prostrong,TIPS, various hardeners). Nothing seems to make my nails grow. Hardeners just break my nails.
I tried NGF for 2 months but nails didn't grow that much after I took my acrylics off because they kept breaking/snagging. I used TIPS for 4 months and I didn't see any difference in my nails. I even voiced my opinion in the TIPS forum room.
I hear alot about Biotin and MSM vitamins do you recommend taking these vitamins while using NGF? Has anyone used these vitamins while applying NGF? How long did it take for you to see nail growth? Is there anybody out there with underactive thyroid problems, if so, have you had any success in growing your nails with NGF or with the Biotin and MSM vitamins? I am getting frustrated with wasting money on nail products that don't deliver. If I can't find anything to grow and strengthen my nails while suffering with underactive thyroid problem then I guess I will continue to get acrylics/gels on my nails for many more years. I brougt NGF last year but I never really used it all. I just started using it again recently. Maybe I should get a fresh order.
I tried silk wraps for a week, I was thinking about getting silk wraps or fiberglass again and just use the NGF. How fast will I see growth if I apply NGF while growing out my acrylics?
Hope I didn't cofuse you all.

Message: Hi Jackie!
I don't know about the thyroid problem, but I can attest to the fact that yes, it can take several months for the damaged nail to grow out. I called ProStrong customer service when I first started using and they said to allow at least 8 months for the entire nail to grow out and the nail bed heal. They said in many cases it can take 1+ years.
Of course, the rate of growth will depend entirely on the person using it. Not all products work identically on all people.
I started using NGF when I got tired of wasting my money on ProStrong. NGF is the best thing that has ever happened to my nails. I used it for 3-4 weeks before I noticed an increase in the rate of nail growth.
Hopefully others will be able to address the thryroid issue. Good Luck to you!

Message: Harriet - I think you're really smart to take a break from the acrylics to give your nail beds a rest, whether or not you go back to them. I had my tech soak mine off. She was very gentle and it took no longer than a fill appointment. You can also do it at home by soaking in acetone. Whatever you do, don't chip them off because you remove a layer of nail. Afterwards, lightly buff and MOISTURIZE them to death so the dry snags don't start! The NGF is really the best thing I've ever used to hydrate the actual nail and create a smoother surface.
Marion - even if you wear polish, it always wears off at the ends a little. The NGF might help seal the ends and prevent them from peeling.
Good luck, Jackie! I had poor results with both T.I.P.S. and ProStrong. I swear, T.I.P.S. seemed to stop them from growing and they became thin and transparent. Weird. ProStrong was great for a few weeks, then my nails became totally brittle. And here I am. It's almost a week for me. I can tell my nails are feeling thicker and more moist and I would be very happy to have short, strong nails in just an active length. That's the trend in nails anyway. If it's good enough for Paris, it's good enough for me!

Message: Jackie,
this product has worked amazingly well for so many of us. we all come here with so many different health issues looking for healthy nails. use this product for thirty days, twice a day, one minute per nail. you must be patient, dilligent, and persistent in this. few qualities, we as women, aren't always privy to because of the demands on our time. you've sunk so much money into the other stuff that obviously didn't work. give this product a try, for real-the whole 30 days. be prepared for some breakage, splitting, peeling, snags, especially after all the acrylic damage. our nails will forgive us, but it is not overnight, or a few days, or even a few months. i've used this product for almost 3 years now and i've never had so much faith in one product as i do this. we're all here rooting for people to realize that they can have their own healthy nails, just like we are all trying to do. we're all in the same boat one way or another. now, as far as the biotin, vitamins and other otc supplements. it's never a bad thing to take the daily supplement, but, i believe, most of us would have to be so defficient in vitamins and minerals in order to see a dramatic turnaround in our hair and nails, that other health issues would pop up much sooner. pre-natal vitamins work because they are "super-charged" vitamins for pregnant women, who already have hormones working on their side to a certain extent anyway. two months of NGF after acrylics is just not long enough to see results from the damage of acrylics. you will see an improvement in your cuticles and you will eventually see faster growth of your nail bed, requiring more frequent fills, but as long as you have the acrylics dehydrating your nails, your own nails won't have a chance to recover.

Message: Biotin is used in cell growth, the production of fatty acids, metabolism of fats, and amino acids. It plays a role in the Krebs Cycle, which is the process in which energy is released from food. Biotin not only assists in various metabolic chemical conversions, but also helps with the transfer of carbon dioxide. Biotin is also helpful in maintaining a steady blood sugar level. Biotin is often recommended for strengthening hair and nails. Consequently, it is found in many cosmetic and health products for the hair and skin.
And, although a biotin deficienby is rare, some of the initial symptoms of biotin deficiency include:
Dry skin
Seborrheic dermatitis
Fungal infections
Rashes including erythematous periorofacial macular rash
Fine and brittle hair
Hair loss or total alopecia
If left untreated, neurological symptoms can develop, including:
Mild depression, which may progress to profound lassitude and, eventually, to somnolence
Changes in mental status
Generalized muscular pains (myalgias)
Hyperesthesias and paresthesias
Some examples of the most Biotin rich foods are liver, almonds, pecans, peanuts, walnuts, eggs, cauliflower, legumes, mushrooms and oatbran.
