Subject: Good Morning World

Message:
Hope you all slept well after last nights rucus! Today I want to focus on US and how our nails and skin are surviving all of this national cold blast!
I am struggling to keep any moisture at all in place.
We have gas heat through out our place and it is sucking the moisture out of everything that lives here. I am even doing double duty on rubbing lately. So I know there are a lot of you living in true winter conditions that are having this same struggle.
Tell me how you are doing with your formula and those dry patches, all over more than anyplace!

Well, our artic condition seems to have passed and we are now into the upper 70's with a possible 80 for Christmas day. I don't know what I am combatting, but I do know I'm having a tough time leaving those stunning cuticles alone! I broke my thumb nail shoving it into the car door, and since I wasn't home at the time and had no file I was trying to carefully tear/pick it off and broke my pinky nail in the process. My jar of NGF is almost gone so I'm dipping into my purse jar. That should last a couple weeks.

Okay, so here's something I've been embarrassed to share.... I have a dry spot about the size of a pea just below my eyebrow. I try lotion on it but nothing helps. I have to reapply lotion every couple hours so it won't show. Well, about 2 weeks ago I did 'it'. After putting NGF on my nails, I rubbed the excess into that patch and sure enough... I only have to do it once a day and it doesn't come back. Barb, I don't know what's in this stuff but it's amazing!

So anyway, that's where I stand, or at least all I'm willing to admit to. LOL

Good Morning. Cameron, our grandson, spent the night with me last night. I am off today - YEA!!!! So, we got up bright and early and went to BJ's (like Sam's Club) and pickup up my husband's last Christmas present. He wanted a GPS for his truck. The Good Lord only knows why - the only place the man ever goes is to and from work....lol Then, across the street to Honey Baked Ham Company to pick up the ham and turkey breast for Christmas Eve dinner. YUM!YUM!! Then to Publix to get the stuff I need for the boss's party tonight. I decided on a pasta salad (cheap to make and feeds alot of people), green bean casserole and a cheesecake sampler that I got at BJ's.

As for my nails and skin - do we have to go there this early in the morning. I seem to have dry skin until you get to my face - oily there. Keeping the limbs moisturized is a battle this year. Nails and cuticles are good - except the cuticle that I seem to pick on all the time. But, even it looks better. I tend to break a nail daily, but am pretty amazed at how quickly it grows back. I don't think I do mine any justice with that dad-blame nail file. I know, Barbara, I know.

Anyway, off to wrap the hubby's present while he is still asleep. Got a few others to wrap and then I think Cameron and I will take a nap. I love that kid. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Moi, the formula is really great on those dry patches but since I can't actually bathe in it, I am at a loss this winter. We are going to try to get a lotion together for next year. You guys have pecked on my hubby and he is slowly relenting! (Good job ladies!)
Deb, you might need to just find another file that will work for you and not make you work for it! They are tricky and a bit cumbersome to learn to manipulate to your benefit.
I hope you enjoyed your grandsons company.
We were supposed to have some of the Atlanta crowd here today, (the second shift) but Luke, our youngest grandson came home from school yesterday with the same what ever it is that Cierra had last week. These poor babies are getting their share of illness this year. Oh I wish this would just pass them all by!

a "balmy" 38 degrees right now! much easier to deal with than 15! i have baseboard, copper pipe, gas heating so i never have air being blown all over. it's a nice, even heat that runs around the permimeter of the rooms in my house. i don't dry out at all up here, but when i go home to my mom's with her cental air, i clog up, can't breathe, and dry up! the nails are doing just lovely. i ripped the pinky nail a couple of weeks ago, but the white is peeking through now! i keep nail clippers in every room and both cars. if i "feel" a cuticle i clip, then rub. i just never give it a chance for me to tear. it just hurts too much now! i never was a "cuticle mangler", i just bit my nails until there was no nail left. deb, moi, sit on them until you can fix the problem! just remember how bad it's going to hurt after you've ripped it away! i'm proud of you both for how far you have come.

I will have to say, I don't chew my cuticles like I used to. If I am tempted, I just rub in a little NGF. As wonderful as it is, it sure doesn't taste good when you put those fingers in your mouth - YUK!! Thank you, Barbara, for not making it taste good!!!!

Barbara, in the winter when the heat in the house starts getting me all dried out and stuff up, etc. I just put a large pot of water on the stove and let it "simmer" for a few hours. That will put some very much needed moisture in the air. Your skin will love it and so will your house plants!!

Barb - hey, thanks for letting me henpeck your hubby. I miss that about being married! hahaha I hear you and everyone on the dry heat issues as I felt someone dumped sawdust on me a few weeks ago. I also get the winter itchy skin particularly on my upper back. Good thing I no longer have the acrylics. Those things would bruise you if you scratch too hard. So, it's time to pull out the heavier creams. I agree with Deb, put out some pans of water. Here, I need a humidifier on my furnace to achieve some level of humidity.

cheryl - Ha! Yeah, I'm enjoying our heat wave too. Maybe I'll even go to the gas pump later!

Moi - I had one of those dumb scaly spots on my chin too! It would peel and crust over almost daily. I had treated myself to a microdermbrasion session at the dermatologist office and she concentrated on that area with the machine. All along I'd been pussyfooting around it and babying it. It peeled one more time and that was it! Now that you have the secret healing formula to apply over, try working a little harder on that spot when you exfoliate. The combo should be great!

Hello to all you great gals. Winter is going to do a number on your skin and hair no matter what you do, but there are ways to make it a little better. I have tons of whipped shea butter and lotions and potions that I am constantly using and also I am a great water drinker. I probably drink enough water for all of us. I love my coffee, but other than that just give me lots of water.

Yesterday was a wonderful day for me because my daughter came to town and we spent the day together shopping and having lunch. She knows about the NGF because I had talked to her on the phone about it and how happy I am with it. I also use only mineral makeup on my face and a good moisturizer always. Anyway, while we were sitting there having lunch she asked me if I also got my nail polish from Barb. I told her that I did not have polish on my nails, that the pretty pink shine she was seeing has developed since using NGF. Then a little later she said that my skin was so pretty compared to a lot of 60+ ladies that she has seen. First off I thanked her, but that also gave me the opening to scold her little 40 year old butt for going to the tanning booth and how it was damaging her skin. Now, I know she was not fishing for a wonderful Christmas present because we had already given the family their Christmas since we will not be spending it with them. So, although I certainly have issues at my age that I would rather not have, I guess my suggestion is to take the time to moisturize your skin in these brutal winter months and drink lots of water, and use Barbs great NGF. Now, if I could just get all the things that are heading south to start heading north again I would be a happy camper.

I forgot a funny that happened when my daughter and I were shopping, but you would have had to have been there to appreciate it. Someone here or on one of the other boards mentioned using Lansinoh as a hand lotion, which is pure medical grade lanolin "For Breastfeeding Mothers". I decided that until Barb can beat her husband enough to develop this hand lotion for us that I would try this. So my daughter and I were in Wal-Mart and we could not find it. She went up to the pharmacy and asked them about it and they have it behind the counter at the pharmacy. The gal hands her a tube and my daughter brings it back to me. My daughter then asked if I thought this would help her hands since she is a mail carrier and is out in the elements 8 or more hours a day. Up we trot to the pharmacy again and my daughter tells the girl she wants another tube of the Lansinoh. So, here stands a 60+ year old gal and a 40 year old gal asking for this nipple cream and the look on this gals face was unreal. You could almost see her wondering what the heck we were going to use this stuff for. My daughter and I giggled through the whole day over this.

So anyway Barb, until you get that sweet, wonderful husband of yours to get us our cream I am using this mixed with hand lotion and it seems like it might work, although I know that your formula is going to be much better. Just wanted to share the crazies of mother/daughter day. Actually, on the way home my daughter suggested we drive by her brothers house and stand outside his door and sing Christmas Carols for him, but she said she could not remember the words and I have laryngitis so we decided to spare him that Christmas pleasure. My daughter and I are such idiots when we get together. Someone really should send the men in white coats after us.

To all of you, have a Wonderful Christmas and the Happiest of New Years.
