Subject: Christmas Music
Message: I am looking for good, traditional Christmas songs, songs you can sing along with. I like it simple. One of my favorite renditions of Oh Holy Night was done by Jewel. Very simple but beautiful. We love to sing sing sing but it's so hard to find good CDs. Any suggestions?

Message: Barb - a few years ago, when you could still use Kazaa, I sat down and "ripped" a CD with what I'd call contemporary/traditional because I couldn't find a mix I really liked. Jewel's Silent Night is on there, along with songs like Annie Lennox's Winter Wonderland, So This is Christmas John Lennon, Celine Dion Ave Maria, Feed the World Bandaid, All I want for Christmas Mariah Carey, O Holy Night Faith Hill, White Christmas Leann Rimes, Last Christmas Wham. Fun stuff - Run Run Rudolph Dave Edmunds, Jingle Bell Rock Hall and Oats, Jingle Bells Jimmy Buffet. A few more as well. You get the gist. Want me to rip you a copy and pop it in the mail? I'd LOVE to do that for you.

Message: I love the classics. I grew up listening to Gene Autry. I found a CD a few weeks ago at Walmart with 10 songs on it from Rudolph to Frosty to Silent Night. Anyone who wants a copy - let me know.

Message: Lynnie and Deb, that's so sweet! Those sound like awesome CD's to have!!! I just bought the Trans Siberian Orchestra's The Lost Christmas Eve. The music is anything but traditional, but it goes along with a story one of them has written. For those of you who looked at the Christmas Lights House link that was posted here, Trans Siberian Orchestra did the music that the man used. That piece is called The Wizards of Winter. Much of the music is rock... not 'acid' but almost 'heavy'. It's really not bad, it's awesome music... it's actually orchestra music, but there's electric guitar bustin' in there too. Anyone interested, email me and I will email you a sample song or 2, then you can decide if you like it at all. It's certain not for everyone but my kids love it and wow, could you get some serious holiday house cleaning done to that! LOL

Message: Man, I am listening to it now and there is some gorgeous music in there. It's not all hard rock type... they are original pieces combined with the classic hymns and carrols. Acoustic guitar, piano... I will definitely be taking several of these amd burning them to another CD. I can't take the heavy stuff on a daily basis. Or a monthly or yearly basis come to think of it. But when you read the story that goes with it, it all makes sense. You can check out the story, The Lost Christmas Eve on their website. Trans Siberian Orchestra.

Message: Omigosh, Moi! I just bought The Lost Christmas yesterday too. Between that Christmas light show and seeing them perform Wizard on the Today Show, I had to have it. It's unusual and first time I've bought anything by them. Haha, I like to plunk in motivational music when I clean as well. I'll shoot you a note about that CD I have. Thanks!

Message: Lynnie,
Oh, I'm so glad someone else loves it! It's certainly not your traditional music, but the story makes it come to life. I can just picture it being made into a play or a movie. Number 14 is one of my favorites already "For The Sake of Our Brother". I am soooo moved by songs like this.. here's the lyrics for those interested... they combine the classic Oh Come All Ye Faithful with their own original music -
FOR THE SAKE OF OUR BROTHER
IN A STABLE
IN A MANGER
IN THE COLD WINTER’S AIR
IN THE ARMS OF HIS MOTHER
A CHILD’S LYING THERE
IN A CITY
IN A VILLAGE
THOUGH THE YEARS HAVE GONE BY
THE CHILD STILL REMAINS
WITH THE DREAM STILL CLOSE BY
AND EACH YEAR ON THIS NIGHT THAT CHILD REAWAKENS
AND EACH YEAR ON THIS NIGHT THAT HOPE REBEGINS
THAT THE DREAM HE HAS OFFERED MIGHT ONE DAY BE TAKEN
FOR THE SAKE OF OUR BROTHER
FOR THE CHILD WHO’S FORGOTTEN
FOR THE DREAM THAT IS STILL LYING THERE
O’ COME ALL YE FAITHFUL
JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT
O’ COME YE, O’ COME YE
TO BETHLEHEM
COME AND ADORE HIM
BORN THE KING OF ANGELS
O’ COME LET US ADORE HIM
O’ COME LET US ADORE HIM
O’ COME LET US ADORE HIM
CHRIST THE LORD
IN A STABLE
IN A MANGER
IN THE COLD WINTER’S AIR
IN THE ARMS OF HIS MOTHER A CHILD’S LYING THERE
