Subject: I'm not an addict
Message: I should clarify that I'm not putting on tips any longer. I haven't done so in quite a while. I wrap my nails with a silk wrap now. My natural nails are over 1' already and it's not all my nails that are like that only 4 and I do agree that maybe it is the acrylic at the root of this problem but it's not the problem because I don't go every two weeks to get a fill-in or anything of that sort. I started out only putting them on for special occasions and taking them off so it's quite a lapse between the times when I put tips on months even years. Today I wrap my nails because they're ugly and to protect them from breaking but I don't see the difference in a silk wrap and acrylic wrap except price but I was told by the manicurist that a silk wrap is better for the nail. Thanks uniquelyMoi for your reply I will look into it to see if maybe it is a health issue because my body does lack a sufficient amount of vitamins like calcium.

Message: Tallie - I hope you weren't offended by the term "addicted". We all know firsthand (no pun!) how tough it is to get rid of the acrylics.
I wonder if a silk wrap breathes more than an acylic. It probably IS more flexible. Hopefully, someone here knows. You know, my sister regularly uses the glue-on nails that look like french tips. You still have to rough up your beds a little and apply with glue, remove with acetone, but putting them on for a nice occasion for a day or two beats having them covered all the time.
You said your nails are over an inch long? If mine were that long they might curve down as well. That's sort of a natural thing for a really long nail to do.

Message: Tallie,
with the silk wraps, is a layer of acrylic still applied over the silk? the acrylic mixture is still the same, whether it's going over a plastic tip or a piece of silk. there is no difference.

All of the topical treatments are absolutely damaging to the natural nails. You may skate by for a while wearing them, some even get into years without incident. But the potential for fungal and bacterial infections are great. In my humble opinion, it is more worth the time, effort, energy, and cost to concentrate your efforts on recovering your own natural nails. It is of course your choice but you are gambling with your health using the fake nails.
Does you nail tech wear a mask? Just interested!
Off my soap box, now back to you! LOL
And Lynnie, I saw your post on Q about the NGF, and wanted to clarify something for you. The stimulation of the cells does not begin with or end when you stop rubbing in the formula.
The product itself promotes the cell activity. And the rubbing in of the formula is not the actual reason for the cell stimulation. That is the actual key to the product. And it has a cumulative effect, so once a pattern of growth is established that suites you, you cut back on the use of the product and maintain the same great results. It is a physical law of chemistry that is applied with the Natural Nails Growth Formula.
Thanks to all of you for your continued support of the product on the QVC BB. I just wish everyone could see and understand that the product is beneficial, and it WILL work if it is used as directed. You don't need 2 or 10 other things to get great results, you just need to dedicate about 6 months to recovering your own nails with this one simple step!

Message: Thanks for the clarification on that, Barb, because I would want to represent your product properly. So, it sounds like the rubbing promotes penetration of the product so that the product increases cell activity. Right?

Message: That is exactly correct. It makes the formula penetrate to allow the activity to proceed. It also insures the penetration of the lanolin too, for the deep protective moisture barrier.
And I was making that clarification so you would understand the product for yourself, not so that you could promote the product for me, but thanks for the plug, it is much appreciated at any rate. LOL

Message: Tallie - I, too, like alot of the women here wore acrylics for years. We all had our reasons. When I had acrylics - I didn't pick at my cuticles - don't ask me why. I took my acrylics off in Feb 2002 and haven't looked back. I found NGF by looking for something to repair my cuticles. Like alot of these women, I tried everything that I could get my hands on. This has seemed to work the best. Trust me, if it could help my cuticles - I bet it would help your nails. Good luck with whatever method you chose to try.
