Barbara, I know you breed and raise German Shepherds, beautiful ones at that too, but I just got an 11 week old Standard French Poodle Puppy yesterday for Christmas and my b'day!!! I'm so excited.
He is all black, his name is Remy Catain, and he is so good, he slept all night, only whimpered once, and I took him out a couple of times because he was stirring in his crate/pen, and when I took him out he did what he had to do.
He knows sit and come and GOOD BOY!!! I can say that a lot to him because he is a good boy!!!
I just had to share this with you all, and I am so excited!!! I know there are many pet lovers on here. Thanks for letting me share.

Karen, I read all about your "new baby" on QB and smiled alot...thinking about how excited and happy you are with your little guy. I am so happy for you and know you will enjoy him everyday. These little "critters" are so special and they reward us everyday just by being there. Can't imagine life without a few animals close by! Have fun and enjoy every minute. :)

Puppies make the world go round...They can teach us much about unconditional love. That being number one among so many other things. Enjoy that baby for a lifetime. Remy will bring pleasures into your life you never knew existed otherwise.
People who are not connected to their pets in such a way, really don't get how important they become in our lives. Our "babies", both young and old, are our children now. Since all of the kids are grown and gone, they fill our lives with much love on a daily basis. I hope your Remy will do that for you too!

Karen .... Happy Belated Birthday and CONGRATULATIONS on your new "baby". Standard French poodles are gorgeous, but enjoy Remy while he's still itty bitty. Hope the potty and crate training continue to go so well. I got have a Lhasa Poo named Idgie who is two years old and the epitome of a companion dog. Love her to bits as I'm sure you will love Remy. I hope he has a Christmas stocking!

Happy Birthday Karen!! Congratulations on the newest member of your family! After a couple of years of saying "no more dogs" we welcomed Kasi into our home. She is a Bichon/poodle mix who is now 1 1/2...so much unconditional love and companionship from such a little one.
My husband's birthday is Tuesday...leaving for Vegas tomorrow... Sue

Happy Birthday, Karen. I had a Miniature black female poodle shortly after I got married. She was my *first* baby. What fun! We have a Collie now and 4 indoor cats. Since our kids are grown, they are our babies now.

Thank you all so much, and I am so happy. Moi, my b'day is Christmas, and this is the best Christmas/b'day present, and I don't even mind that it is a combination present!!! I'm like you Moi, I love all the animals, but prefer dogs, cats and horses. I guess I can't make a horse a "house" pet though!!! LOL
Barbara, you are so right, and puppies do make the world go round. It is this unconditional love that makes them so special. My cats are wonderful too, but they are not affectionate like a puppy!!! He is already my baby, and I am so in love with him!!! If anyone knows how wonderful puppies are and about that unconditional love, it's you Barbara, for you have those beautiful German Shepherds, and you are really so pet oriented, so you know what I am feeling, as do the other ladies.
Margo, you live in La, and I do believe Catain does mean Doll or Dear. I wonder if you know or could find out for me, please???
Kasi, Remy was next door this morning playing with the bichon and the children who live there. I want him to socialize with other dogs, so he will be good with everyone, and he is really doing just great. Have fun in Vegas, and wish your husband a happy birthday for me.
Lynnie, he will have a Christmas stocking, but he has to wait for Santa!! LOL
Grace, I have had nothing but positive comments about Standard Poodles, and so far he already responds to his name, and I got him about noon yesterday, he sits, comes, and lets us know when he has to go out, and likes to cuddle. This is going to be great fun.
Thank you all so much for being so happy for me, and I just am so thankful for this place to come to share all of my news with you all, and for you to share with me. This is a wonderful experience, and you really are like a special family to me. Thank you!!!!!

I do love the babies. They are sooooooo cool when they get some age on them too! Some of you may know that the last litter produced a DEA and a Customs Agent. They are getting new bullet proof vests from their respective Santas! The Customs agent is named Bear...In native American it is Mahto, meaning Little Bear. He is 1 year old now and weighs in at 115 pounds. The DEA agent is a petite little girl with a brain the size of Texas. The other 10 out of the litter are pure and simple family members spread out from Key West to Pennsylvania. All are with great parents and most have children in their lives. We only kept 1 of the females. Named her Cheyenne Raider. (Yes, she raids the laundry, the items stored in the barn, anything that is not nailed down is fair game around here now.) This morning she proceeded to dismantle my new rug in the living room. Wu ran and crammed himself under our bed and Sarah almost tore the door down to get outside before I got back in the living room It is ok, Cheyenne is still living! She only gets a good scolding when she does that kind of thing, I just can't be angry with them for long. After all its just a rug!

Barbara, I know Remy won't get that big, but I'm sure your dogs are gentle giants, and playful. I love their names too, and I'm glad Mahto is getting a bullet proof vest. Will he grow bigger than 115 pounds, or is that about it for him???
Yesterday, when we went to get the puppy, my husband was all concerned about the puppy maybe wetting on me. I said it's only dog piddle, and it's not going to burn me or hurt me and my clothes and I are all washable. I wouldn't have gotten upset, and he never did anything but sleep and yawn in the car. I just am so in love with this dog, but I'm still cuddling and petting and praising my cats too. I'm not neglecting anyone!

Yes, he will probably top out at about 125 to 130. His sire, Wu is at 124 right now and he is 6 years young. Sarah is about 84 now and Cheyenne is the petite thing weighing in at 68 pounds. She was the runt of the litter. Little delicate features with the appetite of a ravenous wolf. But she is always so busy with keeping Wu entertained with the playing thing, that she burns off every thing she puts inside.
Remy is a great name for your baby. I think their uniqueness it exquisite. Our babies all talk to us. Cock that head and do this growl, bark, yelp! kind of thing.
