Subject: Moi and her Parrot yet again!
Message: You know, Moi, as parents we have to do things to discipline our children that seem rather harsh at the time. But if you save them grief and heartache down the road You Succeed in your job as a parent.
You taught the youngster to have a little respect! Not gettin a slap from me for that one! LOL

Message: Good morning or afternoon depending on your time zone!
My you guys have been busy today, I am late coming to the party! Moi, a little discipline never hurt anybody, human or animal, ;o). By teaching your kitty that lesson, you were able to keep him! And you were able to teach him to leave your Cory alone. Win, win situation!
Girl, you are so smart!

Message: Moi! I think that was a stroke of brilliance! You know what boneheads cats can be, but when they learn a lesson like that, they never forget it. It sure beats patrolling with a spray bottle. Your bird could have done alot more damage than a tail nip if they ever scuffled for real. Plus, like you said, it would be too risky for your bird. Look at at this way, somebody had to establish the pecking order.

Message: lynnie,
i have had cats since i was six years old, and you are right, they can be boneheads! i love them, will always have them, and would do just about anything in the world for them, but they can be soooo stubborn and independent sometimes-a little like me, i guess! that's alright, i love them, no matter what, and my husband loves me the same, so there you go! a parrot could do a lot more damage if he wanted to, as long as the cat didn't have the element of surprise!

Message: Cheryl - I used to have cats years ago and remember giving up on even trying to break them of some habits like lounging on the formal dining room table! Such boneheads, but they are characters, for sure!
You are so right about that element of surprise. A parrot COULD do more damage if he hasn't been nabbed by the jugular by a cat or dog. I've read that birds can even be less safe around dogs. Both my pups were big "birders". I believe it.

Message: Morning all!
Most definitely a parrot could do some serious damage but even if she could ward off the cat with a good bite, all it would take is one little scratch to do her in. I wonder if that is part of 'natures way' regarding the food chain? I don't know. I only know I love all my pets and they are all my babies!
I am registered with the state of CA to care for Desert Tortoises. They are endangered and it's illegal to have them unless you and they are registered. So, one day many many years ago I get a call from the Tortoise Society and CalTrans had foudn a little guy wandering the freeway. They asked me to take him in. He is a hoot! He knows how to open my sliding screen door and he comes in the house when it's too hot out. He goes straight to the kitchen. LOL He's down for the winter now I believe but he is just like family!
