Subject: My Nail Didn't Break!!!!!
Message: I've been using NGF for about 4 or 5 weeks now. My nails have always been really thin. I wore acrylics for several years and finally just gave them up a couple of years ago. Since then my nails have been just awful....no surprise though. They've always been that way. Two days ago, I was sitting at my desk at work, and I saw what I thought was a spot on my coffee carafe. I went to wipe it off and got my middle fingernail caught underneath the screw that holds the thing together. I didn't even see the screw and pulled my hand back. Normally that would've ripped my nail down into the bed because my nails are so weak, brittle and lousy. I just KNEW it was ripped. But when I looked at it, there wasn't even a NICK in the nail. I was just absolutely amazed. I even put on my close-up glasses to check it closely -- but nope, nothing. Perfectly normal. This REALLY proved to me what this product is doing for my nails. Amazingly, they are all the same healthy length, look so nice and neat and shiny. I love this product, Barbara. Thank you so much. It's the only thing that works for me.
Now....I'm so tempted to put on some polish. But I have a feeling that will be returning to the slippery slope of unhealthy nails. Is it totally forbidden to do that?

Message: Kir, it sounds like we're right at the same amount of time with the product, this is week 4 for me too, and I am VERY tempted to put some polish on. Barb says that as long as we don't use remover more than 2 times per month, we're cool...I just don't want to see my nails dried out, so I'm still hanging in there with no polish, at least until Christmas week...

Message: WOW! That's cool!
You can polish if you want to. Just remember to do touch up polish between removals. Use a non acetone base remover and use the remover no more than twice monthly.
RULES, RULES,RULES,RULES,RULES!
Just be aware that the polish dries on the nails so it dries out the nails and cuticles. So when your polish is really good and set, apply some of the growth formula to hydrate the cuticles.

Message: Kir,
i feel the same temptation too, with all the pretty colors out there! the real damage, in polish, is the removal. put it on and leave it on, which i know is hard for a lot of people to do. it's certainly ok to do it. try and get polishes that don't contain formaldehyde, try the lighter colors so the nails don't stain and use remover with conditioners in it. most important, keep rubbing the NGF!

Message: Just yesterday my daughter asked if she could polish my nails for me! Imagine that. At first I thought 'oh, no... they are too ugly for polish' then I remembered... oh no they aren't! But I still said no thank you. I too don't want to take any chances. I did however, allow her to give me a manicure :)

Message: Yeah, I would be afraid to risk polish after finally getting there too! But, I have read in dermatology books that the worst part of polishing is the remover. The books recommend using remover no more than twice per month. And there IS no safe remover, acetone or no.

Message: Barbara, does the NGF get to the nail at all when there is polish on it? It seems like it wouldn't, and that I would be using it to keep the skin around the nail healthy, right?
I might put some polish on a week before Christmas for the holidays and then go back to natural nails after the new year.

Message: No, but it is still providing the cell stimulation. The thing you are losing there is the lanolin protection for the moisture balancing act. Plus you are dehydrating with the drying agents in the polish and the removers.
But Kir, it wont kill the process if you "dress up" your nails for special occasions. Just replenish the moisture asap! During this time of wearing the polish you might consider a pure vitamin e oil to rub into the tips of the those babies too! It can't hurt and is readily absorbed.

Message: I went to an engagement party a couple of weeks ago and wanted to polish my nails. I chose a pale pink didn't even both with base or top coats thinking that as soon as the party was over I would go back natural. Well I got busy and didn't get around to taking it off and would you believe it lasted almost a week without chips. I couldn't believe it. The polish really seemed to stay chip proof longer than before. I am back to natural and am going to a Christmas Party tomorrow night but will go natural. I am really getting used to it and if someone had told me I would, I would never have believed it.
Thanks, Barbara for a wonderful product.

Message: I put a pretty French on my nails. Wouldn't you know it too, just before I was ready to do that I went out to get firewood (without gloves --DUH) and broke my thumbnail. It's okay. It will grow back stronger, I'm sure.
BTW, I've been tooting your horn about NGF on some newsgroups to which I post. If you get an order from Joyce in New York, I referred her. :)
