Subject: NGF vs. ProStrong
Message: Hi there! First, I have to comment from reading this board that you seem like such a nice community of friends.
I'm "recovering" from acrylics and, although I probably had one of the gentlest and most responsible nailteks, the product itself inevitably wreaks havoc on your nail beds in time just by nature of it's rigidity and the damage done during fills. I made it 3 years before baaaaad things started happening. A few nails were lifting from the beds by the cuticle. Once that happens, there's no turning back unless you want to risk fungal infection.
All that being said, I'm glad that natural look is in and I've been using ProStrong with moderate success for 4 months. The ProStrong was good for hardening them up when they were in the paper-thin stage. But now I'm finding my nails are very brittle and dry. Have any of you experienced that with this product? Plus, it is so expensive and you "need" more than one product for full benefits.
Anyway, I'm thinking of trying the NGF and would love to hear if any of you tried ProStrong first and had the same experience with it over time. I'm not looking for Dragon Lady nails, just a healthy active length that doesn't need polish.
Thank you!

Message: Since I have never used the pro strong I can not attest to any benefits or the lack there of! what I can attest to is the absolute fact that the Natural Nails Growth Formula does what is advertised.
Some of these other ladies have used the Pro Strong, Tips, and a variety of other products so they would be able to make literal comparisons.
The Growth Formula is not expensive. One jar can last as much as 4 to 6 months and if you use it, it really works. It take care of the moisture balance of the nails and hydrates the cuticles. Other products do not take care of those needs while protecting the nails and stimulating the cell activity.
The Mayo Clinic states that anything that dries on the nails dries out the nails. You need the product to be immediate relief and be readily absorbed, not sit on top and just air dry, like a polish!
I so hope the other ladies will give you a better insight into the comparisons!

Message: Thanks for the response, Barbara! Chances are real good I'll be placing an order today anyway. By the way, you seem like a very genuine person who cares about your users as well as your product.
That is exactly what I want - something that adds or seals in moisture now that Winter is upon us. Great point about something with "drying" agents. I hadn't thought of that! Another benefit for me, personally, would be that I have minor arthritis in my hands. The "exercise" of massaging your product in would be beneficial in other ways. I'm all for killing two birds with one stone.

Message: Hi Lynnie,
I am a QVC'er and yes I did try ProStrong. I didn't use it for as long as you have though. I had a try me kit a year or so ago, I paid $20. Anyhoo, I tried it out for a couple of weeks, but I found that it didn't do anything to keep my nails "hard" at all. I found that the product kept peeling off my nails! So, I decided to send it back, and I hopped right back on the acrylic bandwagon.
I have been using NGF for 4 weeks now. The difference in the hydration of my nails has been amazing. So I can definitely say that my results speak to the issue that you are having with dryness. Nothing, and I mean nothing has ever kept my nails and cuticles this hydrated. I've tried L'Occitane's shea butter (which I like), but it didn't do it for my nails.
So all that said, I've really appreciated what NGF has done for my nails, I hope you give it a shot...welcome!

Message: And by the way, I am also noticing that "stregnth" is now returning to my nails too, they are not as fragile as when I first soaked of my acrylics a few weeks ago. Plus, I am seeing the first signs of my new growth now...

Message: Lynnie,
I love this group of ladies, they are awesome people and good friends!
I could have typed your post verbatim, except that 'gentle' is the last word I would use for my manicurist! LOL
I used ProStrong for 5 months. I got it when it was the TSV and had the biofusion treatment with it.
I too got it to help harden my paper thin nails through the grow out stage. It did indeed help with that, but the moisturizer did very little for my cuticles and they tore and peeled all the time. I called PS customer service and was told that I needed to be sure not to allow the flouride/calcium treatments to touch the cuticle and to go lightly with it. Well, still after a couple months no change. I started looking around for a good cuticle cream. I tried Burt's Bees, Sally Hanson, Bath and Body Works, and though it was better, I was still not happy. I read Denises (Dapme's) post over on Q about NGF and I thought, why not? I've tried everything else. The package came, I used it and by the next morning I could see a difference in my cuticles. I started using it 2x a day and have never been happier! People I have known all my life, or all their life, have commented on how nice my hands look. My nails are not long because I keep them filed down. It's amazing how well this product works. And I can testify that my nails DO grow faster than they ever have. I love that this is just 1 product, and that it is simple and basic. I also love the cost. The PS TSV was something like $50 (including tax, shipping and handling) for a 3 month supply which still saved me a bundle over acrylics, but NGF is even less expensive.
I could go on for days and days about it, but I must get going (fortunately for you all) ;)
Good luck and please come back often and visit with us!

Message: Joy - Thanks for your testimonial and welcome. I know that is exactly what I want, the hydration. After Thanksgiving (hands in water ALOT) my ProStrong nails really went South! I think it would be smart to use it after you've washed your last dish of the evening and your nails are still hydrated from the water. Anyway, I bit and ordered and will be around for my testimonial!
Uniquely Moi - well, you've hit enough products to know! Thanks! I've sunk a good $50 into the ProStrong and I agree that it was good for the growout, when your main concern is just making it to the quick without too many snags. For longterm nail integrity, I don't think it would cut it. I'm excited to hear about accelerated growth because, I swear, the ProStrong slowed me down. Years ago, I tried TIPS and that product seems to do the same - slows growth. Part of my problem in ditching the acrylics is that I miss my tech! I had to stop in to just say hi to her a couple weeks ago and catch up on the gossip. She never tried to discourage me from removing the nails and was equally concerned with the lifting, which is to her credit as a pro. Thanks again. I'll be around.
One more hand tip - ditch the antibacterial hand soaps. A moisturing soap and warm water is JUST as efficient at getting rid of cooties. (Medical discoveries to this effect.) Benefits - less drying to hands and nails and you are less proned to devloping immunities to anti-biotics.

Message: I used Prostrong for well over a year! Ihave incredibly long nail beds and kept thinking once the whole nail is grown out...my nails will be great. What I finally realized was that my nails were Very dry and they kept peeling and peeling. They also peeled using Tips! The one and only product that has put an end to the Peeling..is the Magical NGF!

Message: i had the same reaction to the pro strong products. drying, cracking cuticles, peeling nails and then using remover on top of that. so many products, so much expense. it just never worked as promised and i cringe at the money thrown away.

Message: Denise - I have long beds and are proned to the peeling too. This week it seems like the slightest tap to a nail, like while rummaging around in the purse, causes an edge to just break off.
What I found weird about TIPS was the new pink growth at the matrix. My nail beds were probably not that pink as an infant! Made me wonder if it was irritation.
