I was over on the Q boards reading a post about thawing turkeys overnight in the sink. The experts say no no no but I've done it that way forever and never had a problem. It's always ice cold the next morning and if it's still icy inside I just run water on it.
ANYWAY, I thought about making a list of things that we all grew up with, that, according to the 'experts' should have killed us. I posted this little story over there and thought I would share it with you, my friends.
This is a story my mom likes to tell. Usually in large groups of people, especially if they are strangers ;)
When I was just 2 years old we drove across country from CA to LA to see my grandmother. My dad was a long distance truck driver and we were following him in our old Rambler station wagon. They had put my little potty chair in the very back so that they wouldn't have to keep stopping for me to go. I would just climb back there and sit on my potty when the need hit me. Mom says that one time people were driving by laughing and laughing and she looked back and I was just sitting there on my potty singing my little heart out. Surely, riding a long in an unsecured potty seat qualifies as something that the experts would cringe, if not pass out over.
Okay, now it's your turn....
What one thing did you grow up doing, or still are doing, that the experts say would kill you.

Someone sent me an email with a LOT of things we used to do, but I deleted it. Never fails, as soon at you toss something out, that's when you need it.

Baby oil, they now tell new mothers that baby oil is not a "healthy"
thing to do for your infant.
Charcoal broiled foods! Will give you black lung or something, at the
very least causes cancer. (I should have been dead YEARS ago!)
Not feeding a newborn on demand! Bah Humbug. All 5 of ours were
demanding then and now! LOL
I was even told by their pediatrician that if all infants were as
healthy as ours, he would be out of work except for an occasional
well baby visit.
Me Mum used to say, "Either feed them well now! OR pay for a physician later!"
That's a start!

my mom always said,"if a baby is crying, they either have a wet diaper or they are hungry. so change 'em, feed 'em and hold 'em! my belly was never empty!
