Subject: Kohls Donation To Charity
Message: I don't know if you all have a Kohls department store near you or not but I want to let you know that they have their stuffed animals and the books that go with them out right now. During this Christmas season the dolls are Charlie Brown, Woodstock and Snoopy and the book is It's a Charlie Brown Christmas. They are $5.00 each and are very nice. Kohls donates the entire $5.00 to charity (don't know which one). These are great gifts for class exchanges or maybe you want to donate them to charity also. It's a win/win situation. You get a terrific toy/book AND your money goes to charity.
Just passing it along.

Message: Moi - this is an awesome charity. My husband and I always go in and buy their $5 charity item. They do it every year during the holidays. We always go in and buy the Kohl's charity item and then we donate the items to Toys for Tots. Since we were both Marines, the Toys for Tots charity program has always been near and dear to out hearts, and both charities benefit.
Our church also has an Angel Tree - that sponsors less fortunate children in the county. This is a great item to purchase and then donate to your local church.

Message: I can attest to that, Barbara. Our son graduated from Paul Anderson Youth Home in August 2002, so we spent many, many weekends at the Holiday Inn Express there over the course of 18 months. A couple of times we stayed at my aunt's and uncle's in Metter - but they travel and are NEVER home.
Now, talk about hallowed ground - PAYH is a special place. Our son is now 21, married and expecting his first child in June 2006.
On the other hand, don't knock wallyworld until you've been there at 5am on "Black Friday" - pretty exciting stuff......lol

Paul was awsome. His personal efforts are the claim to fame for Vidalia, outside the onions of course!
Congrats on the new grand coming soon. They are the glue that holds earth together for me!

Message: That's what I was thinking, too Deb. Sometimes we want to donate to Toys for Tots or a school gift drive, things like that. Your $$ can do double duty this way the toys are not cheesy or cheap.
I posted in a couple forums over on Q hoping that people will read about it. I like helping companies who help others.
Barb, there are so many times I wish I lived out in the sticks. Didn't have to deal with obnoxious neighbors who park their cars in front of my mailbox and make it so the mailman won't deliver my mail because they think it's too dangerous to have to step out of the truck. :::deep breath::: sorry!! I guess the proverbial grass is always greener!

Message: Thanks for the recommendation of the Kohl's stuffed animals for
charity. Camp Pendleton, near me, always gets our city very
involved in Toys for Tots so that's a great suggestion for a gift
to bring.
It's so uplifting to hear about the good charitable work,
especially this time of year. The city I'm in has an "Adopt a
Family" program that I was involved in one year with church. It
was fun to go out shopping for clothes and food and other
things for this family - probably the one time I went shopping
for someone else and not myself for a change!!
All year long, my major donations of time and money are to the
medical research organizations for diseases that personally
affect me or a loved one, plus the animal rescue and adoption
charities. I used to volunteer every day at a cat rescue and
adoption agency but I became allergic to cats when I became ill.
But I always feel that playing and helping animals probably does
me as much good as it does them - it's so relaxing and fun!
Anyway, thanks again for the ideas regarding holiday charities.
Jill

Message: Well we are getting ready to wrap it up here at work for the day. I am off until Monday - YEAH!!!
You know what they say about that proverbial grass, Moi - it may be greener, but it's just as hard to cut.
I hope each of you enjoys your Thanksgiving day with those you chose to spend it with. I hope each of us takes the time out of what will be a busy day to reflect on what we all have to be thankful for. God Bless you all. Debra

I LOVE this quote, never heard the part about cutting it. I needed that today. I was just emailing a friend and saying her job was better than mine. ha ha... I will send this quote to her.
