Subject: Is any one else here a new "junkie?!"
Message: I just can't help myself with this...I am addicted to news programs on the old tube! CNN, FOX, MSNBC, MOSAIC, DEMOCRACY NOW, all things news.
Its like I have to find the story and then look for the answers from the other side in other places. Do you get the feeling that you can not get the full story about anything on any one channel? That is what it is, I think. You only hear a certain slant on each channel, so you surf, uncontrollably, to find the buffalo side of the Indian head on the coin! OH MY WORD, SOMEBODY TAKE AWAY THE CLICKER!

Message: I'm not so much a news junkie but I have certain things I MUST watch. Discovery Channel, M*A*S*H, Food Network. I prefer the educational things. My poor kids, when I want to rent a movie it's always something like National Geographic Explores or something. LOL

Message: moi,
there is absolutely nothing at all wrong about kids watching explorer or the discovery channel. way to much crud out there for them to watch as it is. i remember the "wide world of disney" on sunday nights, watching it with my mom and dad. it was a much more innocent time then. kids are "growing up" too fast now. nothing seems to faze them or us anymore when it comes to sex and violence.

Message: I am ashamed of you both! Be careful those kids could learn something!
Since all of mine are out and about I don't worry about that part any more. MUCH!
When I flip through the channels to look for light and frivolous, I generally wind up on HGTV to watch the "redesign" shows. I adore Candice Olsen, (spelling?) Her designs are so elegant and practical at the same time.
Did you ever see the show on TLC about the catapults? Well we did, and the next day my crazy other half set about building his own. Once it was "perfected" we started tossing things across our 5 acres stretch on the back side of the property. Wu, our male shepherd, thinks what ever gets tossed is fair game for his hunt and fetch instincts. Works out great, always brings it back and then begins talking to us in his loudest Wu voice to "throw it again!"
About 3 Thanksgivings ago all of the kids brought things to toss that just ticked them off. We through computers that failed, TVs that died in the middle of their favorite shows. You name it! And a great time was had by all! Especially WU!

Message: By the way we use old stage weights for counterbalance. You can use bricks or anything else with enough meat on its bones if your bucket is large enough to hold it! The trigger mechanism was tricky to get right. Now we have a 20 foot piece of rope on that bad boy so we can clear the area in case of an OOPS moment!

Message: Barbara,
I'm a news junkie, too. Since I work at the computer all day, I like
to have the TV on in the background, and usually I'm flipping
between various news channels to see how stories are being
covered. Years ago, my boyfriend at the time was a producer for
a major network news show. Even years ago, he said there was
tremendous pressure for those in the news division to provide
entertainment more than news, which has always made me
skeptical of how the news is presented. But I still like watching it
and staying up on things.
Of course, I have to be careful not to let it put me in a negative
mood. So for relief, I'm hooked on sitcoms! Although most of
the good, classic sitcoms are long gone.

Message: Jill, Don't ya just love it? LOL
My hubby was an engineer at WSB in Atlanta beginning in the late 60's, so I know about the news in the newsrooms! Sometimes the lack there of is a statement that better defines that!
I am hooked on Boston Legal, Greys Anatomy, CSI, CSI NY, Desperate Housewives, Without a Trace for night time viewing.
