 Subject: Accident last night.......

I have no idea what has gotten into me. My grandson spent the night with us last night. My husband works 3rd shift and usually leaves for work about 9:45pm. My grandson, Cameron, and I finished our popcorn and our movie. I got up to turn off the lamp so we could head to bed and the entire room started spinning. The next thing I know, I open my eyes and my Cameron is standing beside me just looking at me. I guess I kind of blacked out, could have only been for a few seconds, maybe a minute - as any longer than that and he would have been freaking out. Anyway, I guess when I fell, my knee hit the floor (big bruise this morning) my left arm must have hit the arm of the sofa (bruise there too) and my chest hit the arm of the chair.
I have never done this before. It's only 8am here - I plan to call the doctor as soon as they open at 9 and try to get an appointment. I know it probably won't happen the week of Thanksgiving. Kind of freaked me out, not to mention I look and feel like i was run over in my sleep.....lol

Oh no Deb! I do hope you are just a clutz! Not unlike myself in that area!
Are you on any blood pressure medications. It could be your pressure dropped rapidly. Or heaven forbid you have a problem with diabetes. That too can cause light headed sensations and black out spells. I would think for something like this you could just walk into your regular physicians office and they could work you in. This could be something that would need immediate attention. Have you talked to the dr. yet?

Thanks for the well wishes. I just talked to my sister, and she seems to think it's inner ear. I was very sick with a bad bout of the flu the week before we went to Hawaii. In fact, upon landing in paradise, I thought my ear drum was gonna fly out of my head and kill the man sitting next to me. But, it didn't bother me coming back - so I haven't given that another thought.
I diabetes thing crossed my mind, as it's hereditary in my family. I am not on any blood pressure meds. I have a call in to my doc's office - can't talk to real people anymore - have to leave a message and then they call you back.

That is out of control. It's like getting a recording when you dial 911!!!!!!!!!!!
How prompt are they about returning those calls, or is it like the telephone company. "There will be someone there on either Thursday or Friday between 8 am and 6pm!"

They are usually pretty quick, I think. I don't usually have to go except for my regular visits every 6 months or so. No, I feel fine this morning - a little sore, like I've been trampled by a herd of cattle. But, other than that - it's a great day.

Well then in that case, I guess there's no need to worry! you will be fine!!!!! lol
Is your chest sore? I would imagine that would be the spot that feels the brunt today.

That's weird, Deb. Last night my hubby came into the room and said he was feeling lightheaded and dizzy. Said he's never felt like that before.
He hadn't eaten much so we had dinner a little early and he seemed to be fine after that.
Sometimes, on medications or just the inner ear thing, when you stand up too fast it can put you out. My daughter passed out in the shower one day. We took her to urgent care and they said it had to do with her period, the hot shower and standing up too fast. It hasn't happened again.
Let us know what you find out and try to take it easy!
Hug your grand son for us!
