Subject: lotions and creams
Message: Do creams and lotions damage nails that you are trying to strengthen with the growth formula? I TRIED using a system that I bought off one of the at home shopping networks. That system was emphatic about not using lotions and creams on the nails as that would weaken them. Needless to say, that system did not work for me for several reasons (mainly--my nails did NOT strengthen as they said it would). I have been using the stengthening formula that I bought from Barbara twice a day as directed. At other times, I have used shea butter lotions to try and keep the skin around the nails soft--they are SO dried out!!! Any ideas???

Message: Jane,
If you want to use lotions and creams to moisturize your hands that is fine. It will not have any effect on the formula what so ever. Just be cautious about how much alcohol is contained in the lotions you apply! They can dehydrate the skin more readily than they will re-hydrate it. I have found that Shea Butter is about the best to do what I think you are trying to accomplish.
Just don't combine treatments that are different until you know what works one at the time. Like for instance. If you use TIPS, don't use anything else until you find out what kind of results you get. If you are using the Growth Formula, use only the Growth Formula until you are certain that it is or is not working for you. Does that make sense for you? That way you don't waste a lot of money on multiple treatments and never really know what does and doesn't benefit.

Message: Jane,
watch out, also, for anything that has mineral oil as an ingredient. it sits on top of the skin, never absorbing and washes right off when you wash your hands, making your hands feel dryer and dryer. a lot of lip balms also have it too. pure shea butter from l'occitane is the best i've found. kind of expensive, compared to most lotions, but lasts forever.
