Subject: Downloading Mozilla and Thunderbird-conversation!
Message: Grace,
First let me just state for the record something me Mum used to tell me all the time when I was busy with playing 20 questions!
"The DUNCE is the one that doesn't ask the question so she never learns beyond what she overhears."
So ask all the questions you need to. I am not certain at all that all of my answers will be absolutes though! Speaking of DUNCE!
I will be back in a bit.
It is 5:30 here and hubby is coming in soon for supper. Must go!

Message: Grace,
Even if you download Mozilla it won't interfere with IE. I even use them both at the same time when I am doing geneaology research. I have multiple websites up all the time.
I am very excited about Thunderbird, Barb & cheryl! Cheryl, did you say you use it also?
It's working really well but I have to admit it's fortunate I knew my incoming and outgoing server stuff.
Grace, please don't feel intimidated at all by anyone here. You'll not find a more caring, welcoming and sharing group of people anywhere!

Message: i do use thunderbird and firefox as my main browser and explorer too. the one thing that i was happy about with firefox was the ability it gives me to watch any video or image. i was reluctant to change my e mail or my browser, but my neighbor talked me into it and we are both thrilled at how easy it was to download and use.

Message: Moi and cher,
Try this while doing your research or whatever. You can open several things in Firefox at the same time.
Open your Firefox and just go to any location you are looking for. Then while that is loading, hold down Ctrl and hit T. That will tab in another browser window with out opening another browser. If you need a third, just Ctrl T and go again. Then just click back and forth between them on the one browser. I don't think that will work on IE though so make certain you use Mozilla FireFox for this one.

Message: Oh, and here's something else tricky! Right click on the tab up there and it asks you if you want to start another tab!!!!!! AND, when I came back here to post this it remembered who I am and my email too! Now tell me that isn't just the neatest thing since night baseball!

Message: Quote from Grace on the previous post page:
"I did go into tools and options, my privacy setting was at Medium and I changed it to High, is that OK?? Do I have to type in sites that I want and don't want?"
That will help with the security issue there.
"I have a pop up blocker too and I changed that to block all. "
This is the only option as far as I am concerned.
"I have heard of "Clean Sweep" and Mozilla. I'm Chicken Little when it comes to down loading things. I will look into them and give it my best shot."
"Barbara, are you suggesting I give up my isp "server and use Thunderbird?"
NO! just use the Thunderbird E-mail program to send and receive your mail. It is much safer than the Gates email.
Set it up so the mail does not automatically open itself and give you what ever virus or worms may be embedded!
Now ::::blushing:::: How do I clean my cache?
and EEEEK... where is it?? Now you will see how computer challenged I *really* am.
Going to sit in the corner now with my Dunce cap.. :(
Dumb Bunny"
Go into your tools, options, advanced privacy settings and click override automatic cookie handling, and set it up to your preferences. Look at all of those options through out that area. Once you are comfortable with your choices, make certain to apply before you click out of it all. Then reboot your computer so those changes will be applied.
Somebody help me here! I think this is right but I may need plenty of correcting!

OK, I did find what you are referring to, I found First Party Cookies and Third Party Cookies. The Accept for both was selected. What do I want to select instead?
I just downloaded clean sweep, when I went into Programs, it wasn't listed. See why I get sooo frustrated doing computer things??

Message: Grace,
you should have an install set-up icon on your desktop for the clean sweep. if you do, click on it and follow intructions. if you don't then, it sound like it's "lost"!

Prompt for first and block for third party is what I set it at that way you choose the ones you want as they try to set them.

Sometimes those things go into a downloads file. Check there too! It is ok. just keep asking those questions. If I don't know I will ask my resident tweaker and external brain! Otherwise know as my husband. He is the expert in this family!
We also use Reg Cleaner to clear the registry. But that could be dangerous to do if you don't know exactly what you are clearing out of the registry. We can effectivly clean out Bill Gates with one fell swoop and then what'll we do
