Subject: making progress
Message: Hi everybody!
One week without fake nails and still not giving in to the urge to cover up these pinkies! I have worn acrylics and gel nails for YEARS and you cannot imagine how weak and pitiful my nails look after removing them last Saturday. I have been using tne nail growth formula for about 3 days now and I am AMAZED at how the skin around the nails has softened and a lot of the soreness has gone away. One of the biggest problems I have had is the skin under the fake nails was SO DRY and peeling like crazy. As an addicted NAIL BITTER and PICKER, I was going nuts picking at that skin all around where the "fakes" had been. I know I have a LONG way to go, but I am so GRATEFUL to this board and this FANTASTIC PRODUCT for helping me get on the road to HEALTHY, NATURAL NAILS!!!
My nails still feel very thin...When do I need to start the buffing????
On the road to recovery,
Jane B.

Message: You would be amazed at how many of the ladies on this board had nails equal to or worse than your own nails. It is getting to be an epidemic in this country, and it is beginning in Australia now too!
Any time you feel the need to pick or chew, pick up that jar of growth formula and rub away.
DO NOT use the buffing cream until the nails have healed and gained some strength! The Buffing Cream has an abrasive that will only further help to thin the surface of the nails. If you just *want* to buff then just buff in the growth formula for the time being, but even that need to be done with gentle, light strokes.
We are right here to walk you through this so join us anytime. Even to just chat about other things that interest you. This support group of ladies has already been where you are, so there is no judgment, no FU-FUing! Just simply understanding your bad and sometimes painful situation and will be extending a helping hand! With nails on it! ***LOL***

Message: Hi Jane,
Welcome! I had acrylics off and on for about 12 years and removed them FOR GOOD in August. I started the NGF immediately and it was so wonderful. My cuticles got nice and soft and easy to push down. At this time, I have nice, healthy nails with half moons and white tips. I, too, am tempted to polish sometimes, last night in fact. I went through all my polishes, I was yearning for RED. Then I looked at my nice shiny, healthy nails and put it back asking myself "why would I want to cover them up?"
One thing I did learn and will pass on to you, keep them fairly short at first. My nails were thin and when they got longer, they broke. I am in retail and my nails get banged into wooden hangers and metal racks so I keep them short. When I had acrylics, I kept them a little longer and now I know why my nails always hurt when they got bumped and bent. When I had acrylics, the skin under the nail got very tender and thick, it would somtimes get a tiny cut.
I am a biter and picker too, but because the skin is so hydrated now, there's not too much temptation to bite and pick. It's a habit and I have to constantly remind myself not to put my fingers in my mouth, especially when reading a good book. Stay with the NGF, you'll be glad you did. You will be pleased how shiny your nails will look. The first time I washed my hands, I thought, "There goes the shine", but when I looked, it was still there!

Message: Jane,
i was going to respond but grace said exactly what i was going to say, almost like she was reading my mind! couldn't have said it any better. those of us who have "done" acylics know exactly the kind of damage your talking about. you don't think there's any way these peeling, thin, pitiful nail beds could look like real nails again but they can. i've been 2 years, post acrylic, and it's a great feeling to look down and see my own healthy nails now. it took about a month for me to see any improvement, at all, after i removed them. they were that damaged. hang in there, it's worth it.

Message: Cheryl,
When I first came to this board in August, I learned a lot from you, that's why I am able to pass on your words of wisdom. And we shared a lot of the same experiences. And now we share a soapbox!! :)

Message: Hi Jane!!
Congratulations on 4 weeks! Isn't it awesome. I immediately started seeing an improvement in my cuticles, I mean immediately. It took about 3-4 weeks before I noticed more rapid growth and actually had to start filing them down so they wouldn't snag. I still have damaged nails growing out, and I can still see ridges where the new growth is coming in, but they are diminishing and I have to be patiend and remind myself that decades of abuse can not be healed over night! You're off to a great start and we're here to cheer you to the finish line!
Barbara - you've always been such a welcoming, kind hostess and a wonderful understanding friend! Thank you, so much!
Grace - You could have typed your story and signed my name to it. We are so much alike in our nail experiences. I think many women on this board are. Thanks for your supportive posts! We all benefit from hearing each other's progress stories!
Cheryl - You've just been a wealth of information and support from the first day I started using this product. I first realized who you were over on the Q boards and appreciated all the time you spent posting and offering advice both there and here!
