Subject: paper thin & tearing
Message: I'm very encouraged by all the notes I read about NGF! I just soaked off my acrylics and my real nails are paper thin from all the grinding during "fill in". They are tearing off down to the quick. Any advice on how to harden or protect them until they get stronger? I just started NGF 4 days ago. Thanks!

Message: What ever you do, do NOT be tempted to apply any polish or top coat at this point. It will further dehydrate the nails and cuticles. Keep them trimmed or filed short and make certain to keep all the rough edges filed smooth when you notice them. More than anything right now, patience is your biggest friend. Don't give in to other tempting *solutions* It will happen for you, your nails will gradually improve and before you know it you will not even remember those poor little pitiful things.

Message: Hi Wimpy, (not you, your nails)
First, congrats on taking those nasty things off!
Second, be patient. It takes time to heal the nails. Just think, it only takes ONE application of acrylics to do months of damage.
My advice to you is to keep them as short as possible. That will help some with the healing and the pain and the growth.
If you put any kind of polish over them, you're making it much harder for the NGF to reach the whole nail, the entire nail bed, and you're continuing the drying out process.
So many of us here have been in your shoes, are STILL in your shoes (you may have noticed your shoes are feeling a little snug lately? ;) )
Patience, time and faithfully using the product is the best advice I can give you.
