Cheryl I never thought that I could ever have long nails on my own and just love it! I am so glad that the wonderful women on the QVC boards introduced me to NGF..it is nice to use a product that really works..I cannot live without this product.

Sheltie, you go girl! I can't wait 'til I can say the same thing. Cursed was the day that I ever put those stupid acrylics on! I always had strong nails that would grow nicely, they were just so dry & brittle. They'll be nice once I grow out all this acrylic damage. I broke another one yesterday, little tip peeled right off. Meanwhile, I am still so happy with my cuticles and overall appearance of my nails, even though they are nubs right now.

Oh well, rub, rub, rub! :o)

Joy I have always had terrible nails and thats why I got the acrylic nails but towards the end my fill ins were painful and if I bumped them into something it was major pain so I finally said enough. After I took them off it was as if they had ruined my real nails...I thought I was doomed until now...thank goodness I found NGF.

Lori, Okay, I know I asked you this already - if it's 8 for you, how many is it for me?? LOL

Joy - you and I are both cursing the day we had acrylics put on. Can you imagine a TV commercial for this product. All across America women would be standing in front of their former salons shaking their fists in the air yelling CURSE YOU! Then reaching into their purses and pulling out their little jar of NGF. LOL

Cheryl - you're right. Passionate about it is a good way to put it!

I love that idea for a commercial! I would even love it more that more women would stop wasting their money on any kind of artificial nails. We have been so duped in this country...Cheryl had mentioned in an earlier post a couple of weeks ago about taking on the whole "artificial nail" industry...I tell you, I have become that passionate about "fake nails". We are being lied too about this stuff, and the potential health hazards! I just pray that more and more women will continue to read all of the posts on this forum and decide to make the change back to natural nails.

So many things have changed. When I first started getting acrylics, it was ILLEGAL to use the dremel. It was also ILLEGAL to use a certain type of primer. Now, it's possible it's okay to use them now, I don't know the law, per se... but...
Think about how things seep into your system! And after years of usage... I can't being to imagine what long term effects acrylics will have on us. I'm glad I'm rid of them and I can honestly say that even if I never have stunningly gorgeous nails, I am and will always be happy with what I do have now. Short or long, they are clean, they are neat, I don't have bleeding cuticles... they look manicured. And they DO NOT HURT!!!
I owe so much to each and every one of you. You post your own stories openly and honestly and it helps us all to feel not so alone in our desire to have lovely natural nails! I never dreamed so many others were in the same boat as I am and I was ashamed. Back when UniquelyMoi could post at Q, I started a thread called Acrylic Free and Loving It. It shocked me how many women replied that they too were tired of acrylics and looking for something to help them achieve natural nails.
Anyway, enough of my rambling! There is not a single lady on this board that I am not blessed to know (well, maybe that one who was into collecting fingernail clippings.. not so sure about that one) ;)
I am just truly thankful for you all!

Moi and Joy,

I love the idea of the commercial - and I write commercials
professionally!

I haven't been able to use the NGF for a couple of days because I
had to quickly vacate my home when workmen were using toxic
stuff, and I forgot to pack the NGF. But I am amazed at how the
healthy sheen is remaining despite my being temporarily off the
program. This teaches me to put a little of the NGF in a separate
container to keep in my purse.

Moi, you are so right about how these chemicals could be "seeping" into our system. In another 10 or 15 years, who knows what kind of illnesses may manifest as a result of unsanitary practices at the salon, as well as the chemical being in the system! (Now prayerfully, because we have taken the measures to get rid of them, we don't have to worry!) All because we want everything NOW, and we don't want to take a little more time to take care of our own nails. I can remember as a little girl, on Saturday afternoons, after I did my chores, my mom or my godmother and I would sit down and we'd give ourselves a manicure! (I even had nice nails as a child!). This was a ritual. Then the acrylic craze started happening in the 80's, and I myself caved in around the early 90's. I had a love/hate relationship with acrylics ever since. I'd soak them off & leave them natural for a while, they'd start breaking, I'd get impatient and then go for my "instant fix" again. No more. Never again.
