Subject: Thumbnail Grows Split
Message: Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew the cause of my thumbnail growing split. Sometimes, it grows split from the nail bed and fuses together as the nail grows out. It can be very painful until it fuses together as the nail bed underneath is exposed. I usually keep a band-aid on it. After it has fused, it often looks horrible because if dirt gets into it, there's nothing I can do to wash it after it's fused.
The only other person whom I'm aware of who has this is my aunt, so I'm wondering if there's a genetic connection.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Message: There could be a genetic link to this. Have you tried to gain some strength so the nail will become a more viable structure? What products have you applied thus far?
