Subject: Ladie in trouble......

Message:
This came to me in my e-mail box. If you ladies would like to respond to her that will be great.

Following was my reply to her:

"I am posting this on my forum discussion and You will be able to see the responses from others there."

This is her mail to me:

Hi Mary,
I am so sorry about your nail problem. What a nightmare! I had so much damage from wearing acrylics that were put on "correctly" I shudder to think what your pain must be like. My first thought was, did you see a doctor about it, then I read that you were not able to.

My DH lost a nail due to a work injury. He had a smiliar problem with hitting it and having pain. He wasn't in sales where his hands were in plain view everyday, but the pain was still there. Whenever he could, he kept that nail coated with neosporin and wrapped with a bandage. At night he tried to sleep with it where air could get to it.
It took several months before it was totally okay again, I'm sorry to say.

I sure hope someone can help you out. The ladies here are amazing and such a wealth of information.
If it were me, I would keep them clean and treat them with the neosporin and keep them bandaged whnever possible. But that's just me and I'm not a doctor. I'm so sorry I can't be of more help!
Please let us know how it goes. :(

I would try to find a no-cost clinic, most cities have something available.

Mary, I agree with MOI, and I would try to keep it covered during the day with Neosporin, or another antibacterial ointment, and let it be aired at night. You don't want an infection.

And if there is a free clinic in your area, maybe you should go there. That too is a good suggestion. I know how much it hurts when the nails lift from your nails, but I can't imagine the pain when it actually lifts your own nail!! OUCH!!!!!

Good luck, and please come back and give us an update. I'd wash dishes too with rubber gloves, so water doesn't get under your nail for extended periods of time. Just another suggestion, but then someone may have better advice about that. I wish I were a doctor so I could help you.

Calimary, dab on pure tea tree oil as often as you can. It is naturally anti-bacterial and keeps the wounds lubricated and cool; really speeds healing. Vitamin E oil is also wonderful for this. For me, I quickly become "immune" to the antibiotic ointments.

Now, this young lady that used you for a guinea pig . . . bring her to this site . . . hopefully it will steer her in a different direction on the career path!

For sales calls, get yourself some pretty, lightweight, lady-like gloves. Thin enough that you do your paperwork with them on, and a fab ring that can fit OVER the gloves. If anyone is rude enough to mention them you flash a blinding smile and say "Temporary medical condition. Thank you for your concern." ;^ )

Hope those tender tips heal fast!
