Subject: Dry Skin On My Finger Tips
Message: Now that I have longer nails than I have ever had, that skin that is normally exposed is starting to be covered up all the time and its... it's... like... peeling? That's the best way to describe it. Does anyone else know what I am talking about?
I end up clipping it off and I'm hoping that doesn't damage the nail bed. It's not skin attached in anyway to the nail, just there under my nail. Will that eventually become nail bed too?
I am at a loss here.

Message: Hello Moi..I hope all is well with you! I am not sure about this..it is under the nail right? I know that I have peeling around my nails where the sides are but I make sure to apply the NGF to the skin and it seems to go away. That is strange though and I hope someone can help on this one.
Have a good evening!!

Message: Hi Moi,
Back in the years when I would grow out my nails quite long,
after long periods of biting/picking, I had the exact same thing
with the dry finger pad. The skin would be very dry and flaky in
layers - the closest analogy I can think of is when the heels of
my feet get very dry and flaky. I would just keep moisturizing
those dry areas with various hand lotions, even if I had to reach
the skin by putting the lotion on a Q-tip. Eventually the nail
would lie down more into the nail bed, although this was a very
long process for me. Of course, this was years before NGF or
many of the moisturizing handcare products I use from QVC like
L'Occitane shea butter, so I think I was just using regular hand
creams. I have a feeling I will be going through this same
scenario now that I'm trying to grow out my nails again by using
NGF. So I'll stay in touch with you and we can compare notes on
what works.
Take care,
Jill

Good evening girls,
use a lanolin based moisturizer to help with the balance if you don't want to rub your growth formula there. Mine did that too. Sometimes I think it is actually because the moisture from washing my hands does not evaporate or dry as quickly under the "shelter" of the nails. So protect against the moisture penetrating the area with lanolin.
Worked for me!

Message: Morning lovely ladies!
Thank you all for your replies. It might have something to do with my new meds too. My skin is starting to react to my skin care routine. I will give it time though.
I will massage and I will be fine.
I will buff and I will shine.
I will not pick and bite.
I will win this fight.
Okay, clearly I have too much time on my hands. Off to school my kiddies!

Message: Hi Moi,
I will keep your poem in mind for inspiration!
Yes, those nasty meds can do weird things to our skin. My latest one caused so much skin burning that I had to stop my skin care routine and could only put olive oil on my face for several weeks! Yes, I smelled like an Italian deli! I'm just now able to begin using my myriad of Q skin care lines bit by bit. The skin thing was why I had to delay starting NGF. So take things slow and carefully!
