I have had artificials for 12+ years, I just returned from a deployment to the hurricane areas and while there was trying to continue my attempt to grow the acrylics out,. After a total attempt of 5 weeks a few tips broke and I soaked off the rest, best I could with resources available. My nails are ripped and ragged and bumpy. I had been applyiing clear nail polish and filing with a soft board to try and keep workable...I just placed my order for the set and am hoping I will see results. My husband and I are planning a 5th anniversary trip back to Paris where we became engaged an I would love to have a set of my own nails, It is 1 year away. Is that ample time with a committment to this regime?

it is very ample time to grow your own healthy nails. when you receive your set, as much as you want to, don't buff them out with the buffing cream yet. give them at least a couple of weeks with nothing but the growth formula-that means no clear polish or drying removers. you're trying to put moisture back in and hardeners don't harden and removers just strip any moisture you do have. i know they are peeling, thin, sensitive, ridgy, ragged and bumpy. mine were all that too and i thought how can i ever have healthy nails again? you will. we all have nothing but our own experience to go on here and most us have been through it. twelve years is a long time to subject them to acrylics, but you can have your own nails again. another great investment, i found through this process, was a paraffin wax machine. wal-mart has them, most drug stores too. they're not expensive. it helps to seal in the moisture. use the formula as directed. a little goes a long way, be faithful in the application for the first thirty days, and have patience. it took 12 years to get them this way, it's going to take a few months to get them back. any questions you have about using the formula when you receive it, please ask.

My postman just came back for a second trip, it's here!!! Thank you. I am off to work and am taking the goods with me. 12 hour nights shifts will lend much time to absorb the info and start the repair process. Thank you for the quick service as everyone says.

CAC, I can't wait to hear how your nails are doing. I love this product, and I keep using it all the time. I put it on my fingernails and toe nails at least 2x a day, and often more on my fingernails. I LOVE IT, and it has made my nails so shiny, smooth and healthy looking! They look pink!!!! For the first time in my life I have naturally pink, white-tipped nails, and I am so excited. I want to SHOUT it from the rooftops, and tell everyone about it. I guess I can do that here.

karen1225, I have used it for 2.5 days and already my nails feel better. They were still in that painful stage even weeks after removing the the acrylics. Every hour though, it seems I have a new snag to file, :( I know eventually the damage will row out. I guess it will be a test of patience til the ugly look is gone and my nails actually have some length. Thanks for the encouragement.

just think how they will feel after 2weeks, 2months! you just want time to race ahead and be done with all the snags, rips and tears, i know. but, it makes you appreciate, even more, when your nails are finally healthy and strong, how far they have come. you will think one day, 3 months, 6 months, a year? nothing to it. they will get stronger every day.

Almost one week, more breakage of the thin old stuff, but what little remains is pink. Soooo tempted to get acrylics and cover this hideousness but the comments on this board are very encouraging. Luckily working in a hospital I get to wear gloves most of the time, :) Oh so ugly..........

You must see it through. It will be worth the efforts. I am not sure just when it came down the pike, but for the last year a lot of my clients are nurses. They can no longer wear the topical treatments of any kind. Bacterial issues. So hang tight. It will happen for you too.

please don't give up this soon. it's going to take some healing time. acrylics do horrible damage, you know that. please hang in there and be patient. i know it's hard, but they will get better and grow.

Not a nurse, many of them still wear acrylics altho my hospital has issued policy the acrylics are no longer allowed. I will hang in there. The pain and soreness is gone and time flies by so quickly it will soon be the holiday season and I know altho not long they will be longer. Thanks for the support.
