Subject: Peeling Nails
Message: I've been using my NGF as directed since I got it! I have a question...the white tips of my nails are very translucent, you can almost see the layers of peeling there, like onion skin it will lift and want to peel off. Like Moi asked previously, should I keep them filed down short until the layers even up? Does clipping the nail encourage peeling?

Message: ddj,
i would keep them filed short for now. i kept mine short for the first couple of months. i wouldn't clip them though. using clippers on the ends could send "fractures" vertically down the nail that you can't see and cause the peeling to worsen. i would use the natural nails stone file or if you don't have it, one similar to seal the ends with. it will get better over time.

Message: Gosh, it's hard not catching these peeling edges on stuff. My poor nails! They are sick looking!
I'm so glad they are getting treatment now! I know it will take time, the good thing is that my nails do grow fast! Once the damage grows out, I'm sure I'll see beautiful nails. I'm going to also do my toes!

Message: deedee,
Your efforts will not go unrewarded. The nails need some flexibility otherwise they will literally shatter from dehydration. Think of this as tending to a garden. You have to weed and hoe to keep the fruits of your labor from being taken over by the elements. Your nails need a certain amount of attention and TLC. You are on the right track so keep up the good efforts. We are right here awaiting your progress with great anticipation. Probably as anxiously as you are. LOL

Message: I was just wondering if that is really true about using nail clippers to shorten them? That can make them split? I have splitting nails and always use a clipper to shorten them. Never knew that could happen, but now I wonder....... Hmmm.
Maybe I'd better only use the file to shorten. Thanks for you advise.

Message: Wendy,
There are so many things like that, things we do that we have no conception of the "repercussions" so to speak. Remember the old "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction"? Well this is one of those equal opposing reactions. Using the Wonderstone wet file seals the tips of the nails rather than shreading them to peaces. So be concious of the type of file you use also.
At this point you gotta be thinking, there's more of this than there is of me.
I promise you this, what ever advise you receive from Cheryl, you can put money in the bank on it.
