Subject: Damaged nail, what to do?
Message: I recently ordered the NGF and am looking forward to receiving it. I have a question about my husband's damaged fingernail. The doctor said it does not have a fungus. It is thick in places and bumpy, and has been that way a long time. Any suggestions on what he could do? Should the surface be filed down, at least a little at a time to try to get it smooth and more normal looking?

Message: was it ever yellow or crumbly and did the doctor do a scraping to determine if it could have been a fungus? you can't tell just by looking. how are his toenails, if you don't mind me asking? if the answers are no fungus or bacteria then you could use a four sided buffer and just not use the high shine last step. just a little at a time so the nail isn't thinned out too much.

If you use our buffing cream along with a smooth leather buffer, you could smooth out those surface imperfections. It has abrasive beads and when useed in conjunction with a smooth leather buffer, it is safe to remove most of that, just not all at once. Over time the surface will smooth out.

Message: There has never been yellow, it is not crumbly, and no other nails have any fungus. Cheryl and Barbara, thanks so much for your advice. I told my husband, and I think we will buff this nail a little at a time. Thanks so much.

Message: thanks for answering my questions. sometimes you just need more information to give the right advice. i think you will see improvement in the surface of the nail. just take it slow.
