I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD HELP? I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT THE ACTUAL REASONS WHY AGE, ILLNESS AND DAMAGE AFFECT NAIL GROWTH. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ON THE NET FOR AGES BUT CAN FIND THE ACTUAL REASONS. I NEED THIS INFO AS PART OF A COLLEGE ASSIGNMENT- CAN ANYONE HELP??

Probably has to do with the fact that the systems slow down as we age and cell activity is effected in much the same way as out metabolism. If the cells are not as active and generating and regenerating, would it not stand to reason that the nails, hair and all other issues regarding the body, be as risk. I would think that this would be the obvious. But if you are looking for actual medical details, then I would suggest that you get on a medical forum.

I recently read the book by Dr. Denese. It explains aging and I think it's just what you might need for your project. You can find it on Amazon.com
BTW, been using NGF for a week and I can't believe my eyes. Finally a product that works. No more dry cuticles. No hangnails to pick at. Nice pink color.
Thank you Barbara for your dedication, good service and a wonderful product. It's worth the 20 minutes a day. My nails look great already.

Jayne, I agree with Barbara that the best bet is to do a google search for medical and medical research (such as stem cell) websites, and you will also probably find mention of nail growth issues on sites for specific diseases. The cells throughout the body do not regenerate as quickly and as often as we age. Also keep in mind that as people age or become ill, they often take medications that can also affect the nail.

I have low thyroid (hypothyroidism) and dry nails and cracked cuticles are one of the symptoms. I am sure that there are a miriad of medical reasons - aging being one of them. Talking with your physician can never hurt. To have your thyroid checked is as simple as a blood test. Good Luck!!
