 Subject: yellowing of the nails

I have recently begun to let my nail grow. The problem I have is they have a yellowish color to them. What is wrong? Also when they grow a certain length they start to crook. Can I do something to keep them growing straight?

If your nails have been covered with topical treatments such as acrylics, or nailpolish for an extended period of time, they will discolor. The best thing is to allow air and light to the nails. As far as the curve in the nails: that is the natural growth of your finger and nail. I don't know of a thing that will change the shape of the natural nails growth, but I am not a doctor. You might find something can be done somewhere..I just haven't a clue as to what that would be.

Help! I used some nail polish that must have had a yellow tint to it. It has stained my nails yellow. Any tips on how to get them back to the natural color. Ive tired letting air get to them but I work in the public and I just want to hide my hands!

try soaking your nails in a small bowl, with bleach in it, for about 3 minutes, &then wash hands, it should take care of it.

well, I always used to cut my nails striagt across and REALLY short, and paint them funky colours... but over the last two weeks, I haven't done anything, but they are growing HUGE!
I like the way long nails look... but some of them are kinda lobsided.. should I file them?? I don't really know how...
Is a nail strengthener a good idea? Because yesterday I put a clear nail strengthener on all my nails cus I'm scared they will break now.
the other thing I wanted to mention is that you don't need milk to have healthy nails! I have ben vegan for 2 years and mine arent cracking ;) Milk takes almost as much calcium to digest as it gives you.
Just somthing to think about...

all the sudden my nails are starting to turn yellow and I don't know that I have done anything different to them.. I usually keep my fingernails coated with sally hanson hard as nails... and my toe nails painted with whatever color. I have never really used a base coat.... the only thing that may be different is that I usually buy a non-acetone remover and this last time I didn't ..
I didn't know if that would attribute to yellow nails or not.. I dont usually have a colored coat on my nails just the clear or the one that has a light pink tint to it.. they look aweful right now. and my toenails are really yellow.. any suggestions...? thanks Amy Vance

I HAVE BEEN TAKING PRE-NATAL VITAMINS AND FOLIC ACID FOR TWO WEEKS ANF MY NAILS ARE STRONGER AND GROWING FASTER THAN BEFORE. IT IS NOT SPEED OF LIGHTENING FAST BUT I DEFINATLY COULD SEE A DRAMATIC DIFFERENCE WITHIN TWO WEEKS. HOPE THAT I COULD HELP YOU!

What I do, is just gently push back the cuticle, when I give myself a manicure each time. I use the curved edge of the Wonderstone File and just gently go around the rim of my nails, pushing back the soft cuticle tissue. This will allow the nails to grow more rapidly, without the cuticle to "hold on".
I do not cut my cuticles unless there is damage..Mainly because I am just not that "sure" with a cuticle cutter. If you miss you will do damage to the area, and boy it hurts!@!

I have 3 loose nails, both of my thumbs and ring finger of left hand. i have consulted a dermatologist, but his solution of choloride and thymol chrystals do not cure this condition because the solution evaporates before I can use it up. Also, the left thumbnail keeps a blackish growth under it, which the dr. says is bacterial. Is there anyone anywhere who has some suggestions for this problem

My toenails on my two big toes were ripped off b/c my cousin stepped on them with her boots. I have had this happen to me before and they grew back but this time the root and the cuticle came off also. Will my toenails grow back? And if not is there anyway I can get them surgically implanted?

I had a surgery for my toes 6 months ago which made my toenails fall off.they have only grown less than an inch and they are really lumpy and are pushing into my skin. Of course, I am embaressed of them and I was wondering if your product would help in speeding up their growth. thanks

There's no easy or fast way out of time. You'll just have to let your nails grow at the rate that they grow. Tapping your fingernails on the table and pushing back cuticles may help some, but here's no quick way to make them grow naturally or free.
