Subject: chlorine
Message: I am a classical guitarist and my nails are incredibly important (they produce the sound quality).
I however also work in a chlorine pool - for 4 hours at a time.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I could protect my nails during this period?
I use all sorts of creames at the moment, with Eulactol (here in Australia) giving me the best results.
Thanks

Message: Justin,
try the growth formula from this site. the lanolin provides a water barrier and will help hold in the moisture the chlorine takes from them. you won't need anything else after you use this. it will also give you strong, flexible nail growth too. just go to the home page and read about it.

Message: Try using a brush-on nail strengthener to prevent your nails from absorbing the water and chlorine. Brush it daily over the surface of your nails and also under the tips. The idea is to "laminate" them. You will want to remove the product weekly. Additionally, a nail strengthener will help prevent every day wear and tear. Some of these products come in a matte finish.
To counteract the dryness caused by chlorine, push your cuticles back with a terry-cloth towel when you get out of the pool, apply cuticle oil, and massage in well.

Message: According to the Mayo Clinic, paint and polish strengtheners do not make the nails stronger. They only make you think your nails are stronger. The only thing strong is the paint itself, for all the strength that can be! The Natural Nails Growth Formula actually stimulates the cells to increase circulation making the nails grow stronger and faster. And it softens the cuticle during the application process. It provides a natural moisture barrier. Read some of the information contained in this site.

Message: the word laminate pretty much says it all. it means cover up the problem. make you nails stronger from the inside out. nail strength does not come from coats of polish. if your nails are weak and in need of help to become healthier then polishing them with chemicals and then using dehydrating remover to start over again, every week, is not going to do it. i just strongly disagree with doing it this way. i did it forever and ended up with dehydrated, weaker nails that just got bitten over and over again.

Message: Because my poor nails were so badly damaged and mistreated, whenever I do any cleaning I apply a layer of NGF to help protect my nails. Also, when wearing gloves for cleaning I do the same thing.
And, as a side note, while sitting here typing I actually FEEL my nails hitting the keys on some of my fingers. NEVER EVER EVER have I had my own natural nails be that long.
THANK YOU Barbara!!!
