Subject: Remove or grow out silk wraps?
Message: I'm going to order the NGF, but I just got my silks completely redone. I've only had them for 4 months, but am already realizing how expensive and inconvenient they are AND my nails are paper thin and hurt when they are being filed. :(
Should I let the silks grow out or soak them off? What is the least damaging or are they equally damaging?
Also, along with using the NGF, should I use a nail hardener? I know my nails are going to be so thin without the silks.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Message: Removing them would probably be better. Refer back to previous posts for directions on how to do that. Don't just rip them off. As for nail hardeners, they don't work. They just cover up the nail too. Just use the growth formula from this site. It will take time, but it works. Good luck.

Message: Jennifer,
Soak them off in an acetone bath...Pure acetone works best, it takes less time but it is extremely dehydrating, so make certain that you have the NGF on hand to immediately apply the formula. If you don't have the formula use some vitamin e oil. It will be readily absorbed. Do not use any paint on strengtheners, hardeners. You're creating the same set of circumstances whereby you will have the need for chemicals to remove the hardeners. (more damage and dehydration!) Besides, if you want to know what really works, use one product at the time, not a multitude of things. Use the product as directed, be faithful to that routine, and do not be impatient and ready for instant gratification. If instant gratification is what you want you are wasting your time and money and efforts and the only thing that will give you instant nails is the very thing you seek to recover from now......So be patient and be gentle, those poor nails are going to need a lot of TLC!

Message: Jennifer,
the fact that your nails are hurting is not a good sign. they have been thinned out too much even only after 4 months. soak them off now and just get it over with. letting them grow out will just cause more damage to whats left of your nail bed. wait until you get the NNGF so you can begin the right and healthy way. if you need help with the soak-off just let us know.
