Subject: Removal of nails/solar nail/ press on nails
Message: Dana,
you have acrylic nails. any application that involves a mixture of powder and liquid is acrylic. i hope you didn't pay twice the price for them hoping you were getting something else. it happens everyday. it's a huge rip. you can soak them off in acetone remover. having "new" nails won't necessarily make it any easier. the filing of the nail bed, the mixture of acrylic, acid primer and drilling ruin your own nail bed no matter how short or long they are left on. press on nails involve attaching the tips with nail glue-another destructive process that your nail bed is going through. our nails and living tissue under were not meant for this kind of abuse. please reconsider doing anything more that is going to further damage the health of your nails.

Message: howdy,
i wish i could say my time away was so selflessly spent, but i was on vacation with parents and in-laws!
my mom and dad are just fine. they received wind and rain, but escaped the worst. they are around 3+ hours from the coast of MS. i did manage to "check in" through internet cafes ocassionally, but just observing. foreign computers either have missing letters on keys or sometimes missing keys! it's not worth the aggravation! i am back-probably to the chagrin of some-but always here for the folks who really want the advice.

Message: Hey Cheryl,
Thanks for your response. Seems you can't trust anyone these days and you don't always get what you pay for. I am assuming that acetone nail polish remover is fine? Also the press-on are self adhesive nails. The glue is actually already on the nail you just press and go. They say to remove them you just soak in warm soapy water for 15 minutes. But I'm a novice so I thought I would inquire to the experts out there.

Message: Welcome back!!!!!I have missed you as I know others have too. Glad all is well with your folks. I was a bit worried watching it all unfold.
Taking some time is to unwind and relax is a lovely dream. Our last "vacation" was in 1979. We were in Miami in the middle of a tour with the Isley Brothers and had a day before we had to leave for Charlotte. So we spent it deep sea fishing in the Gulf Stream....AHHHHHHHHH!
Well at least it's a nice memory.

Message: Dana,
acetone is the only thing that will remove them. i never had any luck with the press-ons. there's not much out here that i haven't tried it seems! they never felt like they were snugly on. i remember whacking a few off accidentally and the soreness still being the same as if i had actually glued them on.
