 Subject: buring under new set of acrylics! OUCH

I just got a new set of acylics done at a salon I knew nothing about ( ijust moved WAY away from home to go school, and was desperate.) the salan seemed ok, maybe a little less clean than some I've been to before.
Everything seemed ok, but now that its been a few hours I have an intense BURNING sensation under my poor little fake nails. :(
does anyone have any idea what it could be? I've had acylics before w/out problems. :(

Danielle, Hi, what you are experiencing is allergic reaction. You can be going along fine, and then "BAM"! It would be wise to remove the nails asap, moisturize the cuticles when the nails are in the garbage. Read some of the posts here regarding allergic reactions, itching, burning, etc., etc., etc., etc.
Put your efforts into reclaiming your own natural healthy nails. Save your money and treat yourself to a nice manicure, pedicure, and facial once you reclaim your own natural nails.

take them off before you end up with blisters from the reaction. it will get worse and worse everytime once it starts happening. the reaction could be caused from a lot of things. too much acid primer, the acrylic mixture was too wet, too much filing or drilling of your own nail, i could go on and on. the burning sensation might ease up this time, but it will come back again. your own natural nails will eventually pull away from the nail bed-all white is what it wil look like down to the cuticle-nothing connected-due to all the filing down of the nail beds. a less than clean salon can spread hepatitis, t.b., fungal and bacterial infections. if they cut someone before you then used the same instruments on you without properly sterlizing them then you've got it too. they just want your money every 2 weeks-that's all. they will destroy your own nails. if any of this makes you think twice or scares you in any way then good, it should. take them off before you have nothing left beneath, like i did.

Danielle - you MUST stop the acrylics. I went for 12 years - each time the burning itching lasted a little longer than the previous time.
Then it progressed to blisters up to the 1st nuckle.
I finally quit for good and ordered Barbara's nail growth a couple weeks ago. I'm still having a little trouble with my dry DRY dry cuticles. I had a few swollen cuticles with open sores. It's not worth it.
If you soak them off, you may experience even more burning/itching. If you do, be careful if you decide to use clear polish to protect what's left of your nails. I can't even use that now.
