Subject: No more acrylic nails for me
Message: Thank you for this site and for all the posters who took the time to write of their experiences. I just ordered my complete kit and look forward to using the products. I have been getting my nails done off and on for about 12 years. The first time was for about 7 years. I always had allergies to primers, I tried the gel, acrylic, fiberglass and went without primer most of the time. I was going to a salon, not a mall. Then my job changed and my schedule was not consistent so I started to go to the malls. Big problems with that. I went for a couple of years, got infections and allergies, stopped for about a year, then went back. Same thing, allergies and infections. I had to use Cortaid as soon as I got home because of the itching. I stopped again when my nails got discolored and had thin black lines. About 4 weeks ago, I got the urge to try again. This is the end, I am not going back. I am glad I found this site because I work in the mall where the nail salon is and have ladies coming into the store where I work who have just had their nails done. It seemed I was the ONLY one to have problems. I am fortunate, I have nice nails and only wanted acrylic so I could get the French Manicure.
I appreciate the instructions given by posters about how to remove the acrylic. In the past when I stopped, I just removed them myself, but pulling clipping and inserting a false nail between my nail and the acrylic and prying it off. I will try the acetone in a couple of weeks as I just had the fill done this week.
Thanks to everyone who posts here and especially to Barbara for putting up this site and making her products available and to Cheryl for her support and knowledge.

Message: Grace,
your story could be mine. it too, took me a while to realize what i was doing time after time until one day it dawned on me that this was destroying any chance i had of having strong, natural nails that were mine. almost like i "woke up" out of a fog one day and said i can't do this anymore. this a wonderful, supportive site for growing strong, healthy nails and we are very lucky to have it. barbara's done a good thing here! knowing that you are giving up the acrylics and investing the time into growing your own strong nails makes us feel better about "defending" what we believe is right. i really do like trying to help people with whatever knowledge i have, or can find, for people who truly want it. arguing with these "pro-acrylic" women is not something i enjoy. sounds like you've actually gone through and read some previous posts to gather useful information. it's a good site with a lot of insight if people take the time to read.
