Subject: Acrylic Nail Attached to Real Nail/Nailbed
Message: Help! I am 5 months pregnant and the other day I got my acrylic nail which is attached to my real nail stuck between the dresser and the wall and when I went to move my hand the nail bent backwards and broke free from the nailbed. It was covered in blood and now it has finally stopped bleeding. I am in some serious pain and I can not go to the Dr. and have my hand numbed so they can remove it b/c I am pregnant. I do not know what to do. I have soaked it in peroxide, cleaned it up, put neosporin on it and bandaged it up, but I do not know what to do. Is it going to fall off, grow out or am I going to have to remove it myself? It throbs and is very sensitive. Please let me know what to do. Thank you!

Message: Sounds like you're doing things right so far Stefanie. Let the nail get fresh air during the day, but keep it bandaged at night so you don't add any unintended trama. You might want to consider taking off all of the topical treatments. The chemicles used to bond the nails to your own natural nails are absorbed into your system too, you know. Why do you think the people that put them on you wear masks??? Even the fumes are not good for you to breathe, so stay out of the "Nail Salons"....Send me a personal email I would like to discuss something else with you.
Try putting some ice on the damaged nail to help reduce swelling...
