Subject: flattened nail
Message: i've recently gotten rid of an infection on my fingernails, but the nails on my first fingers have flattened out a bit and kinda grow a bit diagonally outwards instead of a straight line like it used to because it's come out of the nail folds.
this is quite uncomfortable and makes the fingers a lot less useful and tactile, is there any way to get the nail back into a curved shape so it can start growing normally again?
actually one side of the nail on my left first finger is still curved and neatly tucked in, so i know how it should look!
can i get the curve again?
thanks

Message: Paula,
it's something i've never personally experienced before so it's hard to say how to make them grow straight. what was the cause of the infection in the first place? you may have to let them grow completely out and give them time to recover from the infection. their growth was "stunted" during the infection and they are telling you this in their growth pattern now. keeping them well hydrated will help considerably.

Message: yeah they go back to their normal shape in the shower actually! i just noticed that today. i guess thats to do with nails retaining water or whatever...
but of course they go back after they've dried unfortunately. if only there as a way to set them while they're wet...
they were very soft for a while i dont know if that had anything to with it. but like i say, all my others are fine and curved.
its only my first fingers so its not a massive tragedy like if it was all of them but if anything can be done of course im gonna want do it. cuz it still bothers me
