Subject: ridges on fingernails
Message: "Ruffles have ridges", but so do my fingernails and toenails. I started having this condition nearly a year ago. Now my nails are brittle, soft,
and ridged. Prior to this dilemna I could tear open boxes, use my nail as a scewdriver, and they grew fast and strong. I had been taking iron to some degree before while giving 65 gallons of blood to make sure I tested high enough to give.
I'm sure I am lacking something in the way of vit-
amins or minerals, but what?! Pete

I'm not sure, but I heard long time ago that people who donate their blood regularly and then stop can have some problem (like gaining weight). I can only guess it happens because metabolism slowing down. And as a result body doesn’t absorb enough nutrients.
Maybe you need to see a nutritionist.
I hope somebody more educated will visit this forum and give you more ideas.

Message: Pete,
god bless you for donating all that blood, but it sounds like a lot. maybe you are anemic. a blood test is an easy enough test to find out if you are deficient in anything. sounds like you don't have a problem with needles! try keeping your nails and cuticles hydrated more. vitamin e oil, cuticle oil, or the nail growth formula from this site. it might be something as simple as that. good luck.
