Message: it's really too soon to tell if you will lose your nail or not. if the pressure continues to increase with the bruise then you can heat a needle with a flame and relieve the collected blood. it sounds gross and painful, but it relieves pressure and couldn't hurt more than slamming the finger in the first place.

Message: I slammed my finger on a car door last night, I have acrylic nails on and I don’t know if I should remove the one that’s hurt it seems to be loose all though its still attached there was blood all around it. If I have to remove it how long should I wait I think it would rip my real nail off.

Message: ale,
i would wait a couple of days before i did anything. the best way to remove the acrylic is soaking it off in acetone and that's going to hurt an already injured nail. soak the whole nail in hydrogen peroxide and put a bandaid around it to try and keep it together. in a couple of days soak off the acrylic and then you will be able to tell if you are going to lose your nail or not. i hope not, but my guess is you are. just for grins, let us know the condition of your nail bed after you remove the acrylic.

Message: I did the same thing with my acrylic nail. What happened. Did your nail come off? Did you have to take it off?

Message: my thumbnail did come off. when i "raked" my acrylic down the wall it was attached like cement to my own nail and pulled it loose from the nail plate. blood and pure pain it was. i still have lumps and ridges on that thumb. acrylics will be the death of all natural nails over time, i'm afraid.
