Subject: A Cure for Nail Fungus
Message: Let me explain, there are 2 kinds of nail conditions; one is a fungus and the other is a mold. Nail fungus travels from nail to nail and from client to client, via unsanitary implements such as files, buffers and even towels. Once a file has been used on a infected nail whether it is your own nail or someone elses and then used on a healthy nail, more than likely that nail will become infected. My suggestion to eliminate the risk of contracting a "nail fungus" is to invest in what I call a "survival kit". You can purchase your own implements including a nail clipper and a cuticle nipper at a local beauty supply.
Nail mold is different than nail fungus, in that any person using polish on natural nails or artificial nails can get mold. A mold results when moisture is trapped and sealed and the product applied to the nail plate. Just as if you were to seal a wet paper towell in a zip lock baggie and put it on the dash of your car. Bacteria would begin to grow in about 7 minutes.
The simplest way to avoid nail mold is to allow your nails to dry completely before applying either polish or product.
If you have either a fungus or mold now, remove the product buff the nail plate and dispose the file. With a cotton swab, apply 98% alchohol (the sanitizing kind) and bring to a chalky whitish/brown or tan, the bacteria has been now been deactivated and if you wish you may replace the product. But, keep a close eye on it. If the nail plate remains greenish/yellow the bacteria is still active and will continue to grow and spread if you seal product on it.
I have been a stylist/nail tech. for the past 18 years and the best advise I can give you is to be "pro-active" in the methods used regarding all your services. Not only will this keep you looking and feeling great but also keep you safe.
Good Luck to All!!!

Message: Michele gives really great advice. we all need to be more involved in what we're having done to our nails, hair, etc., and always ask questions when something doesn't feel right. if we don't look out for ourselves, we have no one but ourselves to blame.
