I smashed my index,ring and pinky finger on the seperate occasions about 2 and a half years ago. The nails soon detatched from the nail bed. I trimed them back to where they were still attached. All this time later they grow but dont attach any further out than an eighth inch from the cuticle. what sould i do?

a smashing or crushing injury can sometimes be more damaging to the matrix-the living tissue under the nail-than just having a nail ripped off. would they just keep on growing out without attaching? i don't really have an answer for you other than massaging those "nails" with vitamin e oil to try and establish some circulation, but it might be too late. maybe someone else out here has been through a similar situation.
