Message: hi,
I used to bite my nails so I had acrylic nails fitted. It has gone very well but I discovered I am allergic to nail polish! what can I do about that? should I keep my acrylic nails but not use nail polish? will they look natural?thanks a lot

Message: RENA,
are you sure you're not allergic to the acrylic powder and monomer, or even the acid primer or over filing? most people find when they have allergies, are allergic to these, not the polish. the polish is the least of the chemicals they are putting on your fingers. if a nail tech is telling you this as a way to pacify you then it is wrong. keep the polish off and see if you still have them. my bet is you do.

Message: I am pretty sure it is the nail polish to begin with because about 7 years ago I had applied it to my own nails and I had an allergic reaction then. Although I do think you have a point about the acrylic ones. I will wait and see. thanks

Message: just go have a fill-in, no polish, and i think you would know pretty soon after that one way or the other. you said you were a nail biter before, but you do realize how much more thin and weak your own nails are now under the acrylic i hope? i found acrylics weren't something i could just do off and on. my own weakened nails were just a better target for my gnawing. in the long run, breaking the biting habit is what works. i speak from a lot of experience. i wish you luck.
