Message: sounds like it's probably going to fall off, but it might take a little time. keep it clean and wrapped for now until the soreness has lessened. you can lessen some of the swelling and pain by soaking in epsom salt and very warm water. you will grow a new toenail if this one falls off. don't force it and just keep an eye on it. not much you can do for now.

Message: Hi, I stubbed my big toe about 2 months ago and yes it hurt very bad, but it wasn't until recently that my toe has begun to be real sore and I can see that it's going to come off. I can see down through my toe, and sometimes there is throbbing pains. Will I grow a new toe nail? Will it look normal? I'm very worried about this. Will a new toe nail be under there when this one falls off? Is there anything I need to do to take care of it? Thank you in advance.

Message: chastity,
kind of strange that it's still hurting 2 months later. what exactly do you mean by,"i can see down through my toe"? you will grow a new toe nail if you didn't damage the matrix, the living tissue of the nail, when you crushed it. you need to go to a doctor to have it looked at. he would probably take off the damaged nail to let the new one stand a chance. throbbing is not normal at this point in the healing process.
