Subject: Top of Nail Curved?
Message: A couple of months ago I slammed my finger in a car
door and the nail got very black and blue underneath.
As it started to grow out, the nail got soft and eventually
the top layer started to peel off and I could see new nail
growing underneath. As the top layer fell completely
off, the nail was left very short, a little below the quick.
Since then it seems as though the top of the nail has
been growing curved into the skin and not growing
straight up. I know it is growing because there was a
little bit of blood still left under the nail and it has since
moved up with the growing nail. If the nail is still
growing, will the nail grow upwards? It doesn't seem to
be getting any longer.

Message: sounds like it is growing, but it seems like it should be growing out faster at this point. slamming it in the car door made it a "crushing" injury, as opposed to a nail being torn off. sometimes in smashing it you can damage the matrix, the living, growing tissue beneath. if it is sore or hurts then i would see a doctor.
